The President Elimination Game

Well, I must admit you’ve got a point there.

Blaming Carter for the Iranian Revolution is like blaming Obama for the credit crunch.

Plus, there are a dozen threads clearly explaining why military action was not an option in the hostage crisis (other than a furtive rescue mission, which was tried, and failed spectacularly). I suggest you read them.

Otherwise, you might as well blame Carter for global warming, teen pregnancy and the dismal plight of the Notre Dame football program.

Van Buren

Madison, as President, was worse than any of those mentioned this round (although Grant would certainly be in the running, and probably ought to go next). So Madison it is.

Rekindling interest in game.

Who won the last round though? (or lost?) It’s been 24 hours. So it still counts.
Did Reagan actually manage to take a quick finish?

I can’t believe that Chester Arthur has not been eliminated. I used to live about 5 miles from his alledged birthplace (Fairfield VT) when I was in Jr High. My Jr high history teacher told us that their was some evidence he was born in Canada. The Canada border is about 20 miles to the North.

Being born in Canada makes the guy a bad president? Hogwash.

Curtis, are you going to call this round for Reagan? C’mon, it’s the right thing to do.

I haven’t been counting so I don’t know if Reagan was the loser, but the results are whatever they are. It’s only a game, for goodness sake. I want to see who the survivor is.

I currently have it:
Reagan 4
Carter 3
Hayes 3
Madison 2
Grant 2
Cleveland
Jackson
Van Buren
Arthur

I will wait until at least twenty people have voted.

There are at least two votes for Van Buren - mine and CyclopticXander’s.

Change those rules! Move those goalposts!

Reported spam post. ^

Can we get a clarification on the methodology here? I’m hoping it’s standard for each round.

Maybe, given the level of participation, there should be a vote limit as well as a time limit and rounds should end after whichever we get to first?

I gotta agree with the crazy Anti-Reagan guy here. That’s just moving the goalposts- gotta make the rules known at the START of the game, can’t just wait until you’re halfway through.

Whatdya think this is? Calvinball?

Possibly, a limit of thirty votes and a minimum of twenty votes before a President is eliminated.

Nobody has voted Wilson yet? Time to remedy that…

Are we allowed to change our vote if the final tally has not been taken? If so, I will drop Jackson and replace with Carter.

I’ll also switch votes to Reagan-I want to be on record as voting [del]for[/del] against him at least once. In terms of effects on the present day, he set the stage for the current wingnut infestation, even if he was a “nice” guy in comparison.
