The President Elimination Game

Interesting that we still have 4 of 6 presidents from 1789-1829, 5 of 6 from 1881-1913, and all 5 from 1933-1969. Only Polk, Lincoln, and Clinton stand on their own in their respective time periods.

Yes, that is interesting, Tom Scud. Good catch.

Still JQA for me, too, for the reasons aforementioned.

JFK, again. Not only for his mistakes, but also for serving less than three years.

I’m sticking with Adams. A fine asset to our country before his presidency, and a fine statesman after. During…not so much.

Perhaps it bears mentioning that JQA is the only president who got a vote in the first round–and is still in the game.

Adams, tho Anthony Hopkins’ portrayal was rather impressive (albeit the time period in the film was after his term was over).

Alrighty, you scratched my back, i’ll scratch yours.

Let’s hear it for JQAdams going down!

John Quincy Adams - great president, aside from the actual years of his presidency…

John Quincy Adams took the oath of office on a book of laws, instead of the Bible, to preserve the separation of church and state. That endears me to him. I’ll vote for Chester A. Arthur, who couldn’t get his own party to nominate him for reelection.

Johnson

Great Society, my ass.

Chester A. Arthur.

Go statistics!

Chester A. Arthur

One vote for Grover Cleveland, for forever messing up our counts of presidents by serving non-consecutive terms.

[GrandpaSimpson]I was spanked by Grover Cleveland on two non-consecutive occasions![/GS]

He’s not eligible for this contest, but I couldn’t help but think of this thread when I saw Garfield minus Garfield plus Garfield.

You might want to check your history on that figure. The second successful burglary is the one that got Nixon’s henchmen pinched. Let me know how minor you think the whole thing was after you actually study up on it.
My vote is JFK. Again.

There are only seventeen presidents remaining. Let’s keep Arthur out of the Sweet Sixteen, please.

JQ Adams

Arthur is next on my list, after JFK. I never voted for an Adams and I’m not about to start! :stuck_out_tongue:

John Quincy Adams.
