Whether the Pretenders version of this song is excellent can be discussed - I like it, but as a 70’s pop standard, Juice’s version is really good.

But questioning Chrissie Hynde’s status as a national treasure (who spent most of her career in the UK)?! Come on! She is amazing on so many levels and has written and performed so many great songs…I mean, as role models for take-no-shit female rockers who made it clear that you needed to regard them as musicians/bandmates FIRST and female second, who is there before Chrisse and Joan Jett?

Huh. I wanted to be wowed - like the song, have fond memories of it, love nearly everything I’ve ever heard Hynde do - but if I’d heard this on the radio I doubt I’d have noticed it much. Just “that’s nice.”
