Great songs you hadn't heard in ages!

Post them here, folks.

This morning, when I switched on my alarm clock radio, I heard the most fantastic song - and it must have been at least 4 years since I heard it the last time. So, that’s what prompted me to start this thread.

My song was A Gentlemans Excuse Me by Fish.

What’s yours?

SeeSaw by the Moody Blues. In fact, I just pulled out my CD so I can listen to it.

You better be nice or I’ll sic my lackeys on ya.

[bold]Baba O’Reilly[/bold] by the Who. I heard it on the Radio about a week ago and it inspired me to but the CD. what a great song. And I found by David Bowie 69-74 compellation after it was hidden under my bet for 5 months.

*didnt know what time it was the lights were low-ow-ow…

Fluther Good -the Shadow of a Gunman.
Sean O’Casey

Against the Wind - Bob Seger. Love that song!

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

Ice Ice Baby…

That’s gotta be “Don’t Eat the Yellow Snow”.
I bet it’s been a real long time since you heard that on the radio…

Sweet Basil

Wow, I was just listening to In Search of the Lost Chord yesterday. The Moodies are one of the greatest bands of all time.

For something I haven’t heard, at least on the radio, in quite a while is, Robin Trower’s Bridge of Sighs. I think I’ll have to pull that CD out and give it a spin tonight.

Heavenly Pop Hit, by the Chills. It’s heavenly.

Being an Old Fart like RChuck, my list is similarly rooted in the '60s…here are six lovely tunes I’ve heard over the past two weeks in my local butcher shop in Brooklyn, whilst waiting for the pork chops and chicken wings (my butchers favor Oldies stations):

DIRTY WATER by the Standells
MR. APOLLO by the Bonzo Dog Band
ALONG COMES MARY by the Association
POISON IVY by the Coasters
DID YOU EVER HAVE TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND? by the Lovin’ Spoonful
MILLION DOLLAR BASH, a Dylan “Basement Tapes” tune covered by Fairport Convention

My CD of Alan Parsons Project Tales of Mystery and Imagination had been put away for a long time but I pulled it out when I got a CD player in my truck last month. “Concept rock album” may seem jurassic these days but it’s stil and all time favorite especially Tell Tale Heart, The cask of Amontilado and The System (of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether). lately my morning commute finds me with the stereo cranked up rocking to that or rocking out to morning edition new on NPR.

“Just what you need to make you feel better…”

…tunes his radio to KFSL, the fossil, all dinosaur rock, all the time.

“Tonight”, original cast, West Side Story. That song just transports me to another dimension. “Love Shack” by the B-52s - how can you stay unhappy cruising down the highway with that song blasting out the window. “Der Commissar”, German group from the 80’s. “Red Red Wine”, UB40.

“Der Kommissar” was done by Falco, who is Austrian.

Carry on

Just thought I’d add that…

I liked Falco, he also did “Rock Me Amadeus” is that obscure or what? But Der Commissar was by, I think, After the Fall - After the Fire - something like that.

No, it was Falco…And that makes me think of “Jeanie” by him also. What a beautiful song.

I was thinking about “Angel of the Morning” (not sure if that is the title or who does it. Anyone have this on MP3?)

Also, I’ve been having a craving for “D’yer Maker” by Led Zepplin. What a happy, kickass song…

Salinqmind,

Falco wrote it and recorded it first. After The Fire covered it later. http://www.postalnauts.com/newwave/98-09-19/atf.html

You’re welcome

A song I think is called The Dutchman by Mason Williams, Deep River Blues by Doc. & Merle Watson, Go down ol’ Hanna by Lightning Hopkins, The whole Songs for Aging Children album by Dave Van Ronk.
