The progression of the perihelion of Mercury

I’ve been out of the game (Physics that is) for quite some time now, but some one over in the ‘pi r squared’ thread brought up the variation in the perihelion of Mercury and the theory of General Relativity.
The last thing had heard on this subject was that Einstein’s equations overcompensated once the distortions in the shape of the sun were taken into account. So what are the latest measurements on this, I have done a bit of searching but I keep coming up with conflicting data.

This might help - Carlip knows his stuff.

Thnaks for that, exactly what I was looking for. Its nice to see another hole closed.
