This is certainly good news.
You mean Moscow Mitch doesn’t go Moo!?
I’m surprised the Russians haven’t blamed NATO for shooting the missiles yet.
They would have to shoot back.
Your right. They may keep that specific lie in their pocket for later, though.
The best story I’ve seen so far is Russia is claiming total success in converting its cruiser Moskva into a submarine.
They could go for just saying that the ship is still in fine condition and serving admirably in its mission, and that its supposed sinking is Fake News.
I mean, if you’re going to lie anyway.
The cruiser was not lost, it got promoted to submarine.
Promoted downwards?
I call that demoted.
The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The Moskva would be lost, the Moskva would be lost.
Is Putin Mr. Howell or The Skipper?

Based on how much he’s screwed this invasion up already, I’d say Gilligan.
Nah, that’s this guy:

AIUI, they’d have made Whitefish Bay if they’d put 15 more miles behind her.
My question is, if it actually was a missile, how is claiming that it was just an accidental fire good propaganda for Russia?
Missiles are for real wars. This is a special action. Ships don’t get attacked in special actions; they have accidents.
So you think “we may as well just tell the truth, because they probably wouldn’t believe us anyway” is a likely way for the Russians (or anyone) to proceed? -
I don’t know. I’m not an expert on propaganda, which is pretty much why I started the thread. But telling the Ukrainians that their (the Russians) are prone to spontaneous maritime combustion seems counterproductive as well. At least, that’s my hypothesis. Obviously, you have your own. ![]()
I guess my thinking is “This is war and those damn Ukrainians hit our flagship! Remember the Moskva!!” is much better for propaganda purposes than “Shit happens.”
To understand why this doesn’t work, you have to understand that Russians consider Ukrainians to be inferior, stupid, really almost subhuman. That’s how they sold the war… the brave Russian soldiers would quickly conquer this child-race of simpletons and restore them to vassal status, as is fated.
Russia can’t give Ukraine any credit whatsoever as a worthy adversary, because when they start doing that, the tapestry of lies begins to unravel. This is why Putin can’t even attend a peace negotiation with Zelensky. It would be like Trump sitting down to talk terms with Ilhan Omar after all the racist xenophobic stuff he’s said about her.
So, needless to say, Russia will tell any lie to protect its ego and pretend Ukraine isn’t spanking their bottom like an unruly schoolboy.
Thank you for that insight. I had no idea.
