I remember when the media let us know that the kids did not even have access to toothbrushes or soap or blankets etc., and the people in charge would not even allow donations to get the kids some basic needs.
I don’t remember that ever coming up when the kids were being held in detention during the Obama years. Maybe that’s just the fault of the media or maybe the circumstances under which the children were held really do differ quite a bit. I believe they were held much longer and not allowed to be with their families during the Trump years for example.
I truly wish we did a better job of helping these desperate people. It shouldn’t be this damn hard.
