I saw the 2002 movie a while back and upon seeing it again and prodding from a friend who had read the book, I’ve been reading the novel for the past week.
Not sure if I like the movie or the novel better, because they’re both similar and yet rather different.
Anyway, one thing that has gotten my attention is the Author that Pyle keeps talking about, one York Harding and his vision of a “third force” in Vietnam. However, casual web search on York Harding has come up with nothing. Ditto with Amazon. Is he that out of print, or rather, is York Harding just a fictional name for a real author with similar ideas that Greene didn’t want to name?
If so, who is he probably referring to?
