Part of my job is posting certain files as notes to online case files. I noticed a while ago that sometimes things seem to have gone fine and the note posted, but in fact the note did not post and I have to try again. Today, I spent without exaggeration of any kind at least 20 minutes trying to get a case note to post properly. If you add in the same thing happening on other case notes that I didn’t watch the clock on, I wasted from 30-45 minutes because the system wouldn’t work properly.
Just when I thought warmer weather would bring some relief the press is reporting on a new invasive species: Giant Joro spiders falling from the sky. Expected to be seen on the east coast.
Looks like now is the time to invest in pest control companies. SC Johnson - makers of Raid - kills bugs dead.
I got a bill from the company that sold me my cpap. Which I ignored because I had paid the thing off. Then I got a call from a “private” number that I ignored. Which when I checked my messages turned out to be the cpap people threatening to send my bill to collections. So I called them. The lady I talked to looked things over and thinks I have in fact overpaid. I’m thinking about calling them and threatening to send my bill to a collections agency.
I ordered something from Canada on Monday, and a DHL airbill was created for the package…and then nothing’s happened since then. There was a warning that shipping times were going to be longer than usual, and I don’t think it’s time to be really concerned yet. It’s just time for me to obsessively refresh the DHL tracking information fifty times a day. I hate having an order outstanding; can’t rest until it’s received.
Also there is a pothole the size of a beach ball right next to the stop sign on my road! I called Public Works and they’re going to think about fixing it soon, only the rain’s come down in torrents since then, so they can’t. I didn’t even say anything about all the little potholes.
Plus which (yes I feel bitchy today), it’s raining too hard to go home for lunch as usual and I have no food here. I thought I’d get some peanut butter crackers out of the vending machine…a dollar twenty five?! Fuuuuuuuck that. I’ll just be hungry and DIE.
I was out in the yard mulching early-emerging perennials against the winter storm and bitter cold expected overnight through Sunday a.m., when a black terrier pup came up to me.
I notified the local shelter and closest neighbors (no such missing dog reported yet) and for now he is staying in a pen on the enclosed porch, having had a snack and water, but whimpering for company. Pluto will not be pleased with the temporary boarder.
Someone needs to claim their missing beastie pronto.
I’ll tell you what I was told on this very board, in 2010, when I picked up an abandoned dog.
What are you going to name him?
We were calling him Vlad…until his owner contacted the shelter where we had texted his photo and contact info.
He is now reunited with his family.
We have no plans to acquire a toy schnauzer of our own.
Yay!!!
You are a good person.
My godfather died because a small tree (less than 10" across) fell on his head. He was not wearing a helmet.
Some years ago (pre-plague) my husband had the flu and I convinced him to get the flu vaccine in October for the 2021-2022 flu season. I have read and found multiple articles that the vaccine for this flu season is particularly ineffective, as it doesn’t match the actual flu strains going around.
He’s had the flu for the past week, and it’ll take him some time to recover, and I think I had a milder case as well. Because we don’t have enough reasons to isolate from others.
I know my advice is way past the sell-by date, but maybe it can be stored in your brain for future use.
If your disposal just hums (cuz it don’t know the words), another option is to stick a broomstick into the sink drain and twirl it in a circular motion in an effort to unstick the disposal mechanism.
This has worked for me in the past.
mmm
if interested, start a post on scooters- I have been using an electric scooter (for the same reasons) you mention for the past 4 years and nearly 11,000 km.
I’d be happy to help out with do’s/don’ts …
best of luck,
chances are this is no longer “a thing”
partly due to the paper-newspapers circling the drain for a decade or so, but also aggravated by the fact that many car dealers basically have an empty lot these days… (not a lot of cars, and the ones they have turn very quickly)
not much sense in spending ad-dollars if you do not have products to sell
What a world!
One of the best feelings in the world.
Years ago we found a little pug running along the road. We canceled our plans for the day and drove around the area looking for his owners. Not a single house we stopped at recognized him, which seemed odd.
We took him to a shelter where they scanned him but he wasn’t chipped. We made phone reports to veterinary office, shelters, pet shops, but never heard back. Ten days passed and he was fitting into our household nicely. Our other dogs loved him and he loved us.
LongStoryShort, at the two week mark we got a call from his owners, a very nice young couple who were in a horrible quad wreck severely injuring them but apparently just catapulting their dog a distance. They cried, he was ecstatic, and we took awhile to recover from losing him.
So sorry you had to return him.
But you did teach him to wear a seatbelt, right?
We got a picture from the owners about a year later. They were all healed and the dog looked pampered.
Our beloved kitty, Vienna, apparently had a stoke. Basically paralyzed from the neck down, but she can still purr. We have a vet appointment for Monday a.m., but it’s not looking good. We are devastated.
Had a dream last night that my parents got divorced. Didn’t help that both were gone for most of the day for some charity event, so I couldn’t see them.
So sorry to hear about the cat. Maybe it can recover? I’ll give my Atilla scritches in Vienna’s honor.
