I have to agree with him. “We’re 70 years away from home and trying to get there, but hey, here’s (1) an alien race who will most likely try to kill us or (2) some dangerous natural phenomenon. Let’s go see!!”

They totally stole that from one Farscape episode, where Crichton blows up a Scarran dreadnought by forming a wormhole between it and the core of a star.
