A) Instead of refunding donations, why can’t the Red Cross just pass the money along to the needy families as initially intended? Refunds will NOT help the needy!
B) Red Cross to destroy of 20% blood bank excess stock, but why can’t they donate the blood to local blood banks which operate outside the Red Cross network? (ex: Red Cross will not recognize DE and the Eastern Shore (Delmarva Peninsula) when it comes to blood! DE has their own blood bank, and I WAG the rest of the Eastern Shore follows suit.)
Has the Red Cross lost sight of their initial purpose(s)?
Re #A – All along, I had hoped that they’d do that. Families who actually had a relative die are NOT the only “victims” here! There are loads of people who are fortunate to be alive, but are out of work, and are just as deserving of help as the surviving relatives. I wish I knew why they think they have such a surplus!
Re #B – Good question. Are you sure they’re not doing that?
The matter of having lost sight of the organization’s original purpose is of course a matter for Great Debates, and I would encourage those tempted to go nuts here instead start a thread in GD or the Pit. Thank you.
