The Reece Committee 1953 - 1954 Questions!

Before my time, anyone here remember Norman Dodd and his testimony to the Reese Committee on Foundations? My understanding is it was terminated? I have googled it. Later I’m go to see if Library of Congress has the transcript and what it entails to get access. If that is even true it crazy.

Before I perused the Wikipedia article there was a video and Norman Dodd guardedly spoke of his time prior to the Reese Committee which he was assigned to and later his resignation.

I assume the Dodd - Frank Act had a connection? Who is or was Frank?

Thank you anyone jump right in. I followed 2008 debacle. Is tied to the Reese Committee 1953 -1954 somehow?

I feel like you could Google a lot of this, even though you said you did, but I will note two things:.

  1. The Dodd in Dodd-Frank is Christopher Dodd.
  2. I was able to find the transcripts of those committee hearings very easily, again by googling.

Barney Frank, Massachusetts Congressman and Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. Frank retired in 2013 but is still alive.

@Maserschmidt I saw the Wikpediia version . Is Christopher Dodd, is he related Norman Dodd? Or just a coincidence? (Barney Frank) I knew that!
Sorry… I had an appointment and I didn’t have as much time.

No one answered what the public mood was then.

I’m go on a limb and say the foundations are the equivalent of todays 1.5 million US NGO’s.

Then I remembered 2018 Dodd Frank change,

The Senate bill passed verbatim by the House, where almost all Republicans joined 33 Democrats to pass this law. Congress rejected the CHOICE Act’s repeal and replace and instead embraced the Senate’s modifications of existing law.

Must be a rat in the wood pile . They agreed
