The Research Is In: Pubbies Are Born That Way!

Now, look, Starkers, if all of the admiration and awe you inspire were to burst onto the board all at once, the tubes would overflow and the hamsters would croak. Plus, you’d have to add more kerosene to your modem…

Look duffer:
Saddam’s WMD bunkers
Shiny Shiny Shiny!
With this news, no one will dis you for less than perfect dishes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry. My comments were based on past experience, which has evidently caused me to misinterpret the intent of your remark. So it’s all good, and I apologize.

Besides, who the hell’s funny as luci!? I’m not gonna try!

It’s all good, SA. And yes, 'luci is hilarious!

Didn’t the Nazi scientists prove that jews were inferior?

Well, yeah, but they were Nazi scientists. The scientific method was disregarded by them as being too tainted by semites.

Godwin is dead.

IIRC, Nazi theory held that Jews are genetically superior, in intelligence and ability, but also genetically evil and parasitic on true “culture-builders” such as Aryans. Hitler, I’ve read, respected the Jews as “negative supermen.” Let them move into any country, soon they’ll be running everything from behind the scenes.

And Godwin said, elucidator is dead.

Isn’t the flip-side of this research that liberals are genetically incapable of managing even their own homes and offices? It seems like a good spin-doctor could coat the airwaves with all kinds of conclusions based on this.

And as long as you remain liberal, you will be.

I’ll be sure to pass that along to George Soros . . .

Depends, conservative has unfortunately become almost a catch-all term. So many different people with so many drastically different political ideologies have been labeled “conservative” or “liberal” both words have little meaning if you’re talking about typical public perception.

Nevertheless, in terms of the post-Goldwater American conservative movement, the word does mean something. Not anything of value, but something definite nevertheless.

I’m always a little surprised at how strong a reaction is raised against the idea that there may be personality attributes associated with political ideology. I’ve pointed out the research that finds associations between authoritarian personality and conservative political orientation a few times in the past. The data is there. Make of the data what you will, but spitballing your own ideas does not equate to data.

May I ask what your sources are? My ex did research that found this very thing.

Is it reasonable to conclude that those whose poltical philosphy “evolved” to the point they changed their self-identified affiliation suffer from schizophrenic or MPD?

I’m sorry, I just have to say that I keep reading the thread title as “Puppies Are Born That Way” and think to myself, “Well, duh, what’d you think, they were born kittens?”

I haven’t taken the time to find the post(s) I was referring to. IIRC, it was one of those posts that led to me coining what has been referred to as Hentor the Barbarian’s rule of post composition, or some such thing. I spent a while on PsycInfo and Medline, put it together in a post, and… bupkis. Nobody cares from data when there are opinions to be foisted.

I don’t see why it would be. Features or aspects of one’s personality shouldn’t be confused with one’s identity, nor with the hallucinations, delusions and negative symptoms of schizophrenia (which itself is quite different from Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly known prior to 1994 as Multiple Personality Disorder).
