The Rules Of Attraction the movie vs. the book (UNBOXED SPOLIERS AHOY)

So I’m about 3/4 the way through the book. And I am so confused. I saw the movie first, and several things are so completely different.
*Lauren the virgin in the movie, vs. Lauren who sleeps around in the book
*Paul can’t get Sean in the movie, vs. Paul (At first I thought it was just in his mind) who is sleeping with Sean
*Sean never gets Lauren in the movie, vs. Sean has a relationship with Lauren
*Lauren is pregnant in the book.

Sure there are lots of things alike, but a lot of things that seemed crucial to the plot in the movie just don’t happen in the book.

I personally liked the movie. Although it took me until the end of the movie to piece together that the girl who committed suicide was the one who was putting notes in his box. :smack:

You forgot the most important difference of all:

The book isn’t a steaming pile of hideous crap. The movie is.

Yes. But be prepared to be very disturbed.

American Psycho was the only book that I was so horrified with I almost stopped reading it. I finished it today after finally managing to get it out of the library. I’ve never seen the movie, so I was very shocked. I bet if they took out all the times he’s talked about what other people are wearing, the book would only be half as long.
