I have a recipe for Easter bread I want to make. It calls for a half teaspoon of saffron threads. I don’t have any saffron threads, but I do have saffron powder. The powder is denser than the threads, so I’m supposed to use less of it (according to a different cookbook). But how much less? Half as much? A quarter as much?
According to www.starchefs.com/Fall99/recipe_06.html (found via Google), the equivalence is “1/2 tsp. saffron threads or 2 pinches saffron powder”.
Your pinches may vary.
