The Saints might leave Na'hlins, does anyone care?

“Buy me a new stadium or I’ll take my gaggle of losers elsewhere”, buh bye. Seriously are there any taxpayers that are willing to pay them to stay?.

I absolutely am willing to pay. Are you from New Orleans? If you were, you would realise that we have some of the most dedicated and underappreciated fans in the country. We’re a small market with a team that historically horrible, yet we’re always looking forward to next year and willing to support our team unlike those bandwagon fucktards in Atlanta. We’ve sold out most every game under Haslett’s .500 regime. I say that if we even break even $ wise (I’m sure we come out ahead since we get the very lucrative Superbowl, every 5 or 6 years), we keep them, because the simple fact is that this city lives for the team and we’ll never get another one if they leave.

Well, as a Packer’s fan, 1971-1989 was generally pretty barren for hope. But Lambeau was sold out every year. So long as the fans show up, keep the Faints there. Better than in L.A. where the “fans” seem to treat the 2nd and 3rd quarters as a respite from otherwise more important tasks. Like boob jobs, tanning and cell-phone use. That’s more inviting to a franchise currently located in a state with a lot of lakes.

During that period of time they played three home games a year in Milwaukee.

Home games were sold out. I meant home games. :smack:

While I don’t live there I have been in and out of NO for the last 15 or so years (working offshore) and I am well aware the the games regularly sell out.

Unclviny (who just doesn’t get" the “New Orleans Cubs” draw)

P.S.
“would the woman who left her 11 kids at the Cajundome please come pick them up, they’re beating the 'Aints 42-0”

That’s what NO gets for stealing the Hornets.

I thought NO’s punishment was, you know, getting the Hornets.

What’s the trouble with the Super Dome, then? … It’s still good enough for the Super Bowl, right? Why can’t they renovate it, as Lambeau or Soldier Field was renovated?

And, if they leave - what will Saints fans do with their bags?

Would it be insensitive to gloat about the Giants franchise? I’ve been holding it in for weeks…

New Jersey officials OK Giants’ stadium deal:

Damn near brings a tear to my eye how classy my beloved Giants are. I suppose it helps that they’ve been sold out for decades…

IMO, the only proper response to this sort of threat is “don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out”.

Where do they want to go? LA? Is there a better stadium deal on the table there, suddenly, after all these years?

The usual bluff. Ignore it.

I think the front runner is currently New Mexico.

Eh, I wouldn’t care much either way, as long as the NFL doesn’t expand to 33 teams just to stick one in LA.

Never going to happen. Albuquerque couldn’t even get an Arena team, much less the NFL. And where the heck would they play, UNM?

When it comes to cel-phones, LA has nothing on the Saints.

Better question: who’d want them?

I don’t know if “classy” is the word to use. From the linked article it appears that the Giants are walking away from $124M in existing debt on Giants Stadium and leaving that to the taxpayers of NJ. I’m guessing that the Giants have made much more than that much from the stadium during their tenancy. The Jets are planning to move out too so its not like NJ is going to get any money out of them to cover the existing debt, and without its two prime tenants Giants Stadium isn’t likely to raise any revenue, let alone enough to cover that nut.

Look, as a taxpayer but not one from NJ I’m happy when sports teams pay for their own playpens. I’m just not willing to call them classy for doing so.
As for the 'Aints, I’m a big fan of the Saintsations so as long as they stay I’ll be happy.

Not from LA proper, but both Anaheim and Carson have made proposals.

What about San Antonio? They have a Metrodome/RCA Dome-esque stadium. People there were wetting themselves when Red McCombs bought the Vikings, assuming he was going to move the team there. Pluses - a stadium in place, regardless of how good or bad it is. It’s Texas, football team will sell itself. And it is a fairly large market for TV purposes. Minuses - not a huge corporate base.

The team should probably stay in NO.
