In other words, you can be a Salvationist without being a Salvation Army officer. Just like you can be a Catholic without being a Priest or Nun.
Sorry,
But, you can be an employee WITHOUT being a Salvationist or even agreeing with their mission or their sometimes questionable ethics and methods.
Should they be forced to hire white supremecists?
No, they shouldn’t be “forced” to hired anyone they don’t want to, just like any business. But they should not be on a government stipend in the way of public tax benefits if they don’t.
Pick one.
Discriminate all you want, but no benefits from tax paying US citizens.
or
Employ regardless of personal beliefs (“All men are created equal”) and enjoy the perks which have been established between the SA an government.
They hire people of the Jewish faith but, the person in that position doesn’t walk around the building bellowing, “Jesus, is NOT the savior, Jesus is NOT the savior”. Why not offord the white supremecists the same employment opportunity and just entrust them to not to walk around the building saying, “Because I’m white, I’m superior to all races”.
If both of these individuals did this, they’d simply be fired, and rightly so. But if they don’t “practice” their belief, who’s to say anything to them? That would be rather pompous! Yes, holier than thou! Or, Religious Supremecists.
So you don’t realize that there are other ways in which someone could have a negative effect on their workplace because of their beliefs? Whether it’s a “spiritual” workplace or not, as an employer, I’d expect a far higher quality of work output, a higher level of commitment to the goals of my organization and a better attitude about doing the work necessary to reach those goals from someone who is in accord with those goals. I’m not going to take the risk, if I can at all avoid it, of hiring someone who doesn’t have a commitment to my mission because it runs wholly counter to their own beliefs.
Well, they’re doing it, but, not across the board.
But that’s the point, they’re not like for-profit business that have to worry about the bottom line at the end of the month. They’ve got a Goverment parachute which allows them to behave in an aruguably unethical manner.
If they were for-profit, they wouln’t last a year.
