I totally love horror movies, but they rarely scare me. I only get scared at movies that are completely, 100% realistic and possible. No need to suspend disbelief. This shit could happen, man!
For that reason, *Play Misty For Me *is about the scariest movie I’ve ever seen. Had me crawling and squirming in my seat! And the original *Saw *was a close second.
One of Steven Spielberg’s early movies, Duel, scared the hell out of me when I was a kid and still does. It’s the fact that you never see the truck driver’s face. I’ve always been uneasy around huge trucks and this movie was a big part of that.
There are three movies, that have freaked me out as an adult:
The Blair Witch Project: The final scene in the abandoned celler (or whatever it was) is what got to me. the rest of the wandering in the woods stuff was meh.
The Ring: I was most disturbed by the video itself, but Samara coming out of the TV was also pretty freaky.
Paranormal Activity: The parts that freaked me out the most were the enitiy’s footprints showing up in the powder on the floor and the girl being pulled out of bed and being dragged down the hall by nothing. This one got me bad enough that I have not rewatched it or even watched so much as the previews for the sequels.
Yes I do. Even though I know it’s coming, I jump every damn time.
I heard the ring was scary but I sadly didn’t understand the concept, so it didn’t scare me as mach as it should have.
The Shining. Scariest movie where almost nothing happens for very long stretches, which is somehow super effective at building tension.
