In addition there was the refusal to send the Feds voter data, most vehemently from Mississippi and one other conservative state I can’t remember.
Starts with a “K”, ends with a “there’s no place like home”. The chairman of the president’s commission investigating for voter fraud was actually the Secretary of State for that state and ended up refusing his own request.
Might not help you in Boise, but your neighbors can be enterprising. Cough cough.
There’s many states, it’s hardly a blue/red thing. But really, some of those who “complied” just said they’d send publicly available data.
Beauregard - with his hyper zealous Christian code and certain gripe against California’s recent “sanctuary state” status - also must feel the compulsion to go after pot as a kind of twisted mark of distinction, considering he’s never really accomplished anything so far. (To the extent that an AG is supposed to actually “accomplish” anything - as opposed to simply carrying out his/her administrative duties - is road I won’t go down to speculate on). If Jeffrey can somehow just…just…just…bust thy heathen Big Pot, then that’ll be his gopher tail he can wave around and brag about.
Don’t forget that an anti-drug crusade offers great opportunity for selective enforcement.
Law enforcement pretty much has to go after murderers regardless of skin color, social status etc. But soft crimes like smoking pot or selling it in sanctioned stores? When good ol’ boys like Billie Bob do it (or rich Job Creators do it), it’s just boys havin’ fun — “locker room” stuff — General Jeffie-Beau will be kind and understanding. But if you’re smoking pot and have the wrong skin color or wrong political beliefs, Jeffie-Beau wants to put your degenerate un-Christian ass in Leavenworth.
That acronym is corny.
It’s actually older than that - the very fact that y’all are calling it marijuana (as opposed to cannabis) stems from efforts to use it to demonize, jail and deport Mexican immigrants in the 1930s.
Everything old is new again.
I know, it’s amaizeing.
Lots of rednecks smoke dope.
Yes, but they all think either they’re too smart to get caught, or that Sheriff Billie Bob wouldn’t care about their wholesome fun.
OTOH, the coastal atheists who pursue their amoral pleasures deserve to rot in prison or hell, so the rednecks are delighted with Jeffie Beau’s initiative.
Moral inconsistency is the very hallmark of right-wing thought.
Yeah i know, OR agreed to not put a dispensary in Ontario. The closest one to me i think i factually knpw about is in Baker City, a few hours drive away from here.
RE the voter info, ID shpuld have told 'em to fuck off, nut turned over tje info that was non identifying.
I love my state, i think our state government sucks right now and is badly misreading how we would react to legalizing pot
just switched from my phone to my 'puter and read what I wrote, and damn! Even though, allowing for the typos, what I said is also true and makes sense, it is NOT what I meant to say, meant to say was; ID should have told 'em to fuck off, but turned over the info that was non-identifying, {while pointing out that the withheld info is, for the most part, public record.}
Butch Otter sucks and even though they are generally liked, more or less, so does our legislature.
I hate my phone
Not the point - you don’t have to be perfect not to drive fucked up. Just a responsible person.
I’m not a teetotaler but I have never gotten behind the wheel while intoxicated. I’m not asking more from anyone else than I demand from myself.
But this assumes that most people that abuse opiates do so because of physical pain. I don’t th8nk that this is remotely true.
There is a vending truck business in NYC that specializes is “weed” based edibles. I was curious about this as marijuana is not legal in NY. Turns out the edibles contain CBD but no THC.
Some people fare better than others. During my heavy drinking days ( which ended in 1993 ), I had several encounters with experienced law enforcement while I was wildly intoxicated and behind the wheel. They never realized I was intoxicated although I was cited a few times for minor violations.
Edit - just to emphasize, I no longer drink. I sometimes have nightmares about the way I used to drink and drive. I was very lucky and I still think about how stupid and dangerous this was, 25 years later.
very good link, Kobal2, thanks for sharing it:
Blame *Refer Madness *for pointing out to the public how marijuana use leads to hit and run accidents, manslaughter, suicide, attempted rape, hallucinations, and severe marijuana addiction. Black musicians looking at white women in the tavern and having impure thoughts. In The Wild One, Marlon Brando taught us that motorcycle riding leads to equally evil deeds and thoughts. Bands of hoodlums destroying towns, lock up your daughters people. Mexican or not.
Blame Hollywood for 90% of shit starting. What fun would it have been watching a band of motorcycle thugs sitting peacefully on hill passing a joint around and napping? Blame the South for believing that shit like Sessions does.
My 2c.
Mr. Sessions desire for Federal action on the weed problem will now accelerate. Unfortunately for him, it will entail unintended consequences. We should soon see a re-schedule to start. Then it will be all over from a Federal suppression standpoint “if” he has pushed the issue past the tipping point it’s been sitting at for many years.
Trump could potentially fire Sessions for insubordination WRT his state’s rights campaign position and/or Congress will simply get off it’s collective arse and do their job. Either way, he’s done - stick a fork in him.
Lotta fun if they pass it. ![]()
So, sessions cracking down may be a campaign rally for dems this fall. Vote for us, and we will pass legislation that reclassifies cannabis as a less controlled substance.
It’s that simple is it?
One of the things I like about living in California – I’m supremely confident that Jerry Brown is perfectly willing to tell the Trump administration to blow it out their ass. He’s done it on many other points of contention (eg, we’re going to go on adhering to the Paris climate agreement); this is just one more.
