Nope. I’m going to start a discussion thread. Don’t look at it until after you do the puzzles, and welcome to the tourney.
You don’t have to do Mondays, but it will put you in competition for the big noprize. 
I’m tracking the standings, but I won’t post them until tomorrow night to allow latecomers in. So far we have eight participants, but anyone is welcome to join. Just read the instructions, and post or email me your times.
Gah! I did Tuesday’s first, and not too bad. (Not too good either, but I can live with it.) Then I went back to Monday. Maybe Wednesday will be better.

9:01 for today, though I spent the last 30 seconds or so trying to find one freaking letter I’d mistyped. And I went and did Monday’s: 7:29. If Voyager (or someone) is keeping score, I’ve got:
Monday: 7:29
Tuesday: 7:05
Wednesday: 9:01

How do you check for mistyped letters without it revealing the right answers for you?
Hit “Verify Answers” at the bottom of the java window. It’ll “x” out the wrong letters but not give you the right ones.
I’m seeing a bad trend in my times:
Monday – 11:46
Tuesday – 15:45
Wendesday – 16:02
Monday = 12:07
Tuesday = 11:24
Wednesday = 14:51
I made a lot of stupid errors on this one. :smack:

I must drop out because I had to walk away from this one for a while. Again, these are hard in a different way than I’m used to. Usually the long ones are a pun or play on words. This one, for instance, with its insertion of the word “now”, was totally alien to me.
Some of the clues are wicked hard. “Figurative albatross with a golden sound?” Wow. I pick up the Times on occasion, never on Sunday, although many years ago I could finish the Sunday one once out of three or four weeks, and they aren’t hard like these, during the week anyway. Does anyone know about the writers of these things?
Oh yeah. I want to point out that using the ‘letter verify’ option should be disallowed in future tourneys. It’s way harder to finish if you have a wrong answer or two mucking up the works, like you would on a paper puzzle.
Hey, what’s going on? I did some last week puzzles and they were a snap! Is the fix in?
I have everyone’s scores entered. I tried pasting from a spreadsheet, but formatting looks so terrible I’m not going to even bother. I need to search for how to insert a table - I’ve seen them so I know it is possible.
I couldn’t figure out how to print the puzzle - I suspect the applet only shows the visible clues. And yes, Wednesday was the hardest one yet.
essvee, I did last Thursday’s and got it under 10, no problems. Maybe we got a hard week? Curioser and curioser.
2/10 puzzle: 9:29. Is anyone else having problems with the java app? Every now and then the whole grid sort of disappears and I have to scroll the little purple cursor over the whole thing to get it to show up again.

jackelope, go to the Java site and make sure you’re up to date. I was having some trouble with other java apps and that solved the problem.
On the other hand, considering that your worst time is 2 minutes better than my best time, forget I said anything.
