The SDMB Mentor Program

Anahita, instead of using BASIC, you should make a HTML page.

Sorry, stupid geek joke. But then, what most people do is look at a page that looks pretty, then look at the source, and modify the bits you want different. Start simple, then try to expand your repertoire. Using HTML editors with an instant viewing options are very handy. There are a few sites that teach the basics of HTML.

Look at the Yahoo HTML tutorial category for links. I learned it that way, several years ago. Getting really good, however, takes more time and patience than I was willing to spend.

Well crap, my post got eaten.

Anahita, here is the only link you need to get started.
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/kids/index.html

It is webmonkeys kids site. Explains it all nicely.
If you need hand-holding or stuff explained, then please feel free to mail me at the addy in the earlier post. I dig web-dev.

Rekoned this deserved a baby-bump to hear how people are doing, and to give others the chance to hook up. Flymaster is going to be my coding pappy, and I am all ready to start teaching LilyoftheValley Swedish. My other protogé is coming along wonderfully, even if he has obtained a rather strange russian accent (he is Irish).

Any other dopers looking for mentors, or do any of the ones we already have have an update for us? :dying of curiousity:

I’m in the process of changing my major from Journalism to English, and wouldn’t mind advice on what to read or what to do to prepare myself for the change in writing styles this will entail.

Hmmm…

  • I order a lot of books for our library & am a master Amazon surfer, so anyone looking for a good book to read.
  • And I can help people improve their search skills using EBSCO or Gale Group databases and other proprietary (library) databases.
  • I can help people with cross stitch or embroidery questions.
  • Or learning Microsoft keyboard shortcuts. Those are good to know.

Sign me up for Conversational Spanish. The Texas state demographer said, “Learn Spanish! Now.”

Anyone willing to offer a master course/good tips on house cleaning? Seriously. There’s got to be an easier way.

Well, I’m certainly an expert on making less than a million dollars a year – much less!

Thanks for the bump, ** Iteki, ** because I just remembered something. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who could assist me with picking up basic ** esperanto. **

Cheers.
