The SDMB Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! {12th Poll in post 155}

To my mind, Parliament/Funkadelic was as influential as the Velvet Underground, so that took care of two votes.

I gave my third vote to Janis Joplin. What’s not to love. She had a powerful voice, a screwed up personal life, partied hard, performed at Woodstock, her biggest hit wasn’t her best song, and she died of an overdose at 27. If you want iconic, Janis Joplin is the personification of rock and roll.

The Velvet Underground is influential and iconic but I hate them so they will never get my vote.

Oh, c’mon man - I voted for Joni Mitchell and I’m really not a big fan of hers at all :grinning:. But she’s just way to influential not to - everybody from Dylan and Led Zeppelin to Björk and Taylor Swift.

Is it too late to petition that Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Velvet Underground be revised to Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young and The Velvet Underground & Nico?

I’m just going with the names the Hall used, so yes.

Hey folks, sorry I’m late, it’s been a busy weekend. Anyway, today we welcome to the pantheon The Velvet Underground, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and The Allman Brothers. This week’s ballot features the 1998 inductees plus six carryovers and write-in candidates Styx. Vote for no more than three.
