The SHOCKING parallels between literature and 9/11 !!!!!! You'll be AMAZED!

OK, we’ve got at least two threads where people see prophetic voices, or shocking parallels predicting 9/11 in 10 or 60 year old literature. What’s annoying is that it’s not just here that I’m seeing this (The two threads are here and here. I do not want to discuss the OPs of those threads as really, neither deserves a Pit-Rant.) But they’re symptoms of a trend: At work someone’s told me about some glurge she’d read about how if you know origami, you can fold the $20.00 bill in such a way that if you squint REALLL hard you can see sort of Twin Towers “so they KNEW ALL ALONG!!!” (Snopes has more on this one)

A friend told me about how a friend of his was claiming that there was a Seinfeld-9/11 “prophecy”

Aaargh…

So, with the theory that you either mock this sort of thing or go insane, I propose that this thread be dedicated to finding parallels to 9/11 in other stories.

I shall start:

The Three Little Pigs and 9/11 Prophecy!

In the Three Little Pigs, there are some SHOCKING parallels to the 9/11 incident. Did the Brothers Grimm have psychic powers? Did GOD talk to them?

Read the eerie parallels and find out for yourself.

3 Little Pigs 9/11

Big Bad Wolf Osama Bin Laden

Tries to knock down 3 houses Hits the Pentagon, and
                                                BOTH towers of the WTC

Successfully knocks down two houses Knocks down the Twin Towers

But fails to knock down third house Fails to knock down the Pentagon
(well defended 'cause it's made of bricks) (where the Department of **DEFENSE**
						is located!)

Eventually, wolf is either killed Bin Laden has either been
or sent running off (depending on which killed or is in hiding!
version)

Is it coincidence....or **SOMETHING MORE**????

I AM amazed!

Call 911. Duh!

The first person who tries this on me is going to get the following in reply: my two middle fingers, side by side, in their face, and the question, “And what does this mean to you?”

The best thing about the Snopes cite are the randy rodents at the bottom:

“Certain accessory points of the design served well to convey the idea that this excavation lay at an exceeding depth below the surface of the earth. No outlet was observed in any portion of its vast extent, and no torch, or other artificial source of light was discernible; yet a flood of intense rays rolled throughout, and bathed the whole in a ghastly and inappropriate splendour.”

After reading Poe’s work on The Fall of the House of Usher, we’d cancelled our trip to lower Manhatten. Why everyone else hadn’t heeded this blatent warning is beyond me.

The excavation? The memorial? C’mon people.

Let’s not forget J.R.R. Tolkien, who named one of his books “The Two Towers” just so the movie version would sell more tickets.

Hmm. Only thing I’ve ever seen on a $20 (the old one) are the Klansmen in the bushes.

OK, here’s my contribution:

9/11 as prophesied in the Yes song “Leave It”:

These lines represent the POV of the suicide hijackers, moments before carrying out the mission. The “young man” is Osama bin Laden, and his “pleasure” is the mission itself. The “dreams” refer to the WTC, which represents the American Dream, or two penises, depending upon how you want to look at it (but if you’re going with the penises, that’s another song entirely).

One tower down, one to go. Another town (D.C.) and one more show…

Now we’ve switched to the POV of the New Yorkers, unable to locate their loved ones, and trying to communicate via cell phones, etc.

The American POV, as to the reason why they’re all out to get us

Both towers down now. The line “McArthur Park (a California State Park that memorializes a family of pioneers) in the driving snow” symbolizes what the WTC is to become; a memorial ground on the east coast (where it snows).

These lines are pretty self-explanatory.

These, too.

Filler.

And at last, we get to the POV of those who died in the tragedy (highjackers and victims alike), as they pass on from this earth…

Then the song continues to echo lines from all three points of view, as it fades out…

Whew. I haven’t had to bullshit this much since high school English. Good to know I’ve still got it.

The Shatner connection

In the film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Shatner’s nemesis (Khan) is a renegade resistance leader of vaguely middle eastern descent bent on destroying the Federation (a benevolent superpower). To do so, Khan highjacks a Federation manufactured device which, though designed for peace, is quite a potent weapon. His devious, terrorist plot is foiled by Shatner.

Later in his career, Shatner plays TJ Hooker. Hooker is a cop whose sworn duty is to protect innocent civilians. The show even goes so far as to introduce a terrorist plotline into the “TJ Hooker in Hawaii” episode of season 5. Again, the nefarious plans of a terrorist are foiled by Shatner.

After TJ Hooker, Shatner goes on to host Rescue 911…rescue…9…11…rescue 911.

Do I have to spell it out to you people?

I demand Congress form a blue ribbon investigative commitee to find out what Shatner new and when he new it.

Hmmmph. Tinfoil hat stuff. Howzabout this imagined excerpt from the “grand programme of Providence” set forth in the very first chapter of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick?

Now if that’s not a clear presentiment of the 2000 election and all the subsequent events, I don’t know what you can possibly imagine it is. Hmmmph.

Let’s not forget that Canadian industrial band Front Line Assembly released their newest single on September 11th, 2001 called … Everything Must Perish.

Damn Canadians knew about it and never told us!!

Fenris: please see my reply in my thread (the one you linked to above), I think you’re just looking for something to overreact about. I clearly stated that there were parallels between Watchmen and 9/11 (which is a FACT), not that there were any “prophecies” or that Alan Moore knew or that any thing weird at all was going on. I just simply think that it’s a socially significant book and I wanted to discuss it. Please try to get things clear between you and I before linking to my threads in the pit from now on. I don’t want people hijacking my thread with a bunch of “THIS WAS NO PROPHECY!” posts.

Cisco: You certainly didn’t use the word prophecy and you didn’t imply that Moore had any psychic powers and I apologize if anyone got the impression from my OP that you did.

However you did say that there were parallels between Watchment and 9/11 because of A) an attack on New York and B) a war in Afghanistan.

One (an attack on New York) is too broad to be meaningful (as Peyote Coyote stated: there’s one in every third issue of Doc Savage pulps) and other (the war in Afghanistan) is completely dissimilar other than the location. In Watchmen the war is a continuation of the '70/'80s war-by-proxy between the Soviets and the US that has nothing to do with Afghanistan per se. In the real world the war is with the Russian’s backing and it’s against the Taliban (Afghanistan’s government). I believe that the Soviets were still in Afghanistan when Watchmen was coming out. It wasn’t anything other than current events.

Simply mentioning the words “Afghanistan” and “war” is too broad to be a parallel.

Fenris

I might point out that much of Rudyard Kipling’s poetry deals with a war in Afghanistan. Clearly the tendrils of a conspiracy are beginning to be exposed!!

This is a Great Thread.

I love conspiracy theories.

Is this the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy Theory?

Or the band called I Am The World Trade Center, which has a CD, containing a song called September, which happens to be the 11th track!
OOOoooooh!
