The Simpsons Classic Madness - FINALS!

One really great episode made it through, and another very over rated (in my opinion) but still funny episode. This thing ends Friday night at 10PM. Vote!

Marge vs the Monorail
vs You Only Move Twice

Well, I think “Deep Space Homer” is getting screwed, but…
You Only Move Twice

Marge v. The Monorail.

If I had to choose, it’s my favorite episode, so this game is working out for me. (so far.)

Homer, I’ve brought someone who can help!
Is it Batman?
No, it’s a scientist.
Batman’s a scientist.
It’s. Not. Batman.

You Only Move Twice

You only Move twice

Can’t go against Hank Scorpio.

You Only Move Twice

You only move twice

You Only Move Twice.

Albert Brooks’ finest (half) hour.

Joe

You Only Move Twice.

Scorpio!
He’ll sting you with his dreams of power and wealth.
Beware of Scorpio!
His twisted twin obsessions are his plot to rule the world
And his employees’ health.
He’ll welcome you into his lair,
Like the nobleman welcomes his guest.
With free dental care and a stock plan that helps you invest!

I may have to get back to you Friday. At the very least it’s a great excuse to watch both episodes again. Sorry you don’t like You Only Move Twice, but I think these are two very worth candidates and they’d probably both make my top ten.

You Only Move Twice

A worthy winner as it’s easily in the Simpsons top 5.

I DO like You Only Move Twice, but I’d hardly consider it the best episode of the first 8 seasons…more like top 5 of season 8. And Scorpio? The best part of that episode is Canadian Ralph from the Leg Up Program!

Ah well…with what we have left, I’ll have to give it to…ummm…

Marge vs the Monorail

<Sings> *The monorail is really…*D’oh!

Marge vs. the Monorail

“Donuts…is there anything they can’t do?”

It wins because it takes place in Springfield, the best Simpson episode ever has to take place in Springfield, not someplace else.

Marge vs. the Monorail. It’s got everything I love in The Simpsons, from outrageous humor to family warmth to relatively obscure cultural homages such as The Music Man (and it’s one of Phil Hartman’s two finest appearances, the other being A Fish Called Selma). Plus, as Gangster Octopus says, unlike YOLT it’s a very Springfieldy episode – the whole town and its citizens are featured, which highlights one of the show’s greatest strengths, i.e. the sense that we know so many members of this quirky community.

The Hank Scorpio ep is great and I voted for it to be in the final, but IIRC, most of the other Springfieldites aren’t in the ep. It seems more of a ‘one-off’ episode than Monorail.

Well, them’s my thoughts. Gotta say unlike most of these Madness threads, I’m pretty content with either of the finalists winning!

You Only Move Twice.

That was a perfect episode.

Definitely You Only Move Twice. It’s my favorite episode, actually. I thought there were a lot of suspect choices in the rest of the field, but I’m glad to see the cream is rising to the top (Marge vs. The Monorail is excellent as well).

If you listen to the teacher rattling off names, you’ll find that the Canadian kid is called “Gordy.”

Marge vs the Monorail

Monorail!
Mono… D’oh!

Marge vs the Monorail - 6
**You Only Move Twice **- 10

I watched both of these episodes tonight. Marge Vs the Monorail is a non-stop laugh fest for me (true or false, you can get Mono from riding the monorail?), and would get my vote, and You Only Move Twice is a pretty great episode, but the only time I really laughed out loud was at the “hang my coat on the wall” scene and everything in the Leg Up Program. … but whatever, this episode has its fans.

I’ll be back in October for the Simpsons Halloween Madness. Justin_Bailey, you’re up for the neglectorino tournament.
