Hey, it doesn’t say which Super Bowl!
Were you laughing last year? How about in 2006?
I would venture to say that I find myself laughing far more frequently than you do.
He’s a Minnesota Vikings fan. He’s got nothing to brag about. They ain’t even BEEN to the dance in what, 35 years or so??
Should it be The SixandSixburgh Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread?
And yet, isn’t it amazing how after PART of a good season, Bengal fans get so self-righteous and obnoxious? You haven’t won anything yet…and the AFC North title isn’t what I’m talking about. Missing the playoffs and getting bounced in the first round are essentially the same season in a Steeler fan’s mind, and I expect you’ll probably lose your first playoff game this year. Until then, wake me up when you actually win something worth bragging about.
A couple things:
A) I’m just kidding around, so don’t take this so seriously. Obnoxious? Child, please.
B) We wouldn’t have been bounced in the first round of the playoffs in 2005/06 if a certain someone who’s name rhymes with Mazeltoffen wasn’t ordered by cash-register jaw to put a hit on Carson Palmer.
And I’ll be sure to wake you up when the Bengals make the playoffs and the Steelers do not, and after we win our first game.
You could combine all the Steeler fans’ senses of humor, put it in a thimble and have room left for a extra large thumb. They take themselves waaaaaay to seriously.
LOL. Well, that Hong Kong Phooey guy is playing nice anyway. I suppose his fellow Steeler fans consider him to be some kind of a carpetbagging, yellow-bellied traitor for consorting with the likes of a lowdown, dirty Bengals fan.
Normally, I wouldn’t be optimistic at all with a 6-6 record. If they can just tweek a few things in the defensive secondary, I still think they have a good shot. Maybe my emotional attachment to the team is affecting my ability to view things rationally. But I can’t get past the fact that they lost one game by 6 points and the other 5 by 3 points.
I know that in some of those games (like the first Bengals matchup, and I believe against the Chiefs and Raiders, too) the Steelers squandered leads going into the second halves of the games. That’s got to be frustrating.
The Bengals had the same issue against the Texans and the Raiders. Had the lead at halftime, got conservative, then sloppy, then lost. I’d rather my team just get blown out from start to finish than have the edge in TOP, offensive stats, etc only to lose in the waning moments. Its immensely frustrating.
Welcome to the world of rooting for a mediocre team. We find ourselves thinking these thoughts after every game. They happen again, only more so, come the draft.
And just think, you could descend even further, into the world of a Lions fan!!!
Gary Dulac, reporter for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette is picking the Browns to win tonight.
Arrrggghhh!
Wow! How the mighty have fallen…
Alas, I will not get to see them tonight, I do not have the NFL channel.
Go Steelers!
I saw a headline on NFL.com’s website last night that read (paraphrasing) “Steelers Ward questionable for Browns with injury” and I thought “How ironic is that? Has Rothlisberger taken to calling him a pussy in the media yet?”
Edit: its still there, but there is no mention of the “rift” between Mssrs Ward and Rothlisberger in the article.
That was my first thought too - I wonder if the guys in the locker room are 50/50 on Ward’s injury status?
Ben just needs to sidle up alongside Ward and whisper “Your place or mine?”, er, I mean “You know, lots of players tough it out and play through hamstring injuries”.
On his facebook page Ward says he is going to warm up and doesn’t plan to miss a must-win game. I don’t think we’ll see him in the line-up but he’s going the extra mile to inspire his teammates. What he said about Ben was jerkish but I think Hines really does have a different approach to the game.
They need to win to stay alive. They need to blow them out of the water to restore confidence.
Blow them out of the water? I’d settle for a few special teams tackles.
My God, it’s the Browns we’re talking about!
See? This is why I’ve lost my optimism for this group. The team that went 6-10 in 2003 inspired more confidence, at least they played with some fire in the belly. Our team looks soft right now.
