I am undoubtedly one of the “pinheads” you are referring to, and while I admire your ardor, I just don’t think its in the cards for the Steelers this season.
pinheads=people who can see the Steelers have lost it this year
Oh. I thought pinheads=Lions Fans. How silly of me.
Today’s game sucks so many balls. If either team wins, they have a shot at the playoffs, and fuck them both.
However, at least Pittsburgh is a real team that deserves to exist and isn’t 100% worthless as a fanbase, just in the 90s somewhere. So I always root for them against that other team, even though it makes me mildly ill. Plus… most scenarios that keep both the Steelers and the other team out of the playoffs involve the Steelers winning. So… yeah… GO YINZ
Thanks. I am invariably too lazy to sort it out for myself, but now I know who to be rooting for.
Go Steelers!
Keenan Lewis, Carey Davis, Troy Polamalu, Kraig Urbik, Chris Kemoeatu, Sunny Harris and Joey Galloway are out for today. ESPN is still reporting Harrison as out but he’s playing. If the stories we hear about him contain even a fraction of truth there was no way a biceps bruise was going to keep him out. This is a guy who was alleged to have busted out of an ambulance to go back on the field once.
The biggest injury news today is that Reed will be out for Baltimore. Especially since Big Ben’s nemesis Terrell Suggs is back.
Deshea Townsend is getting the start over Willie Gay. I’m not convinced Townsend is still starter calibre but the Ravens are thin at WR and this might ne the best time to send a message to Gay that he needs to step up or lose his job. The Steelers aren’t the type of time to spend big money on a FA corner and even might balk at spending the cash a 1st round corner will command. A guy like Gay can fit the system and has played well for us in the past. Let’s hope he responds like Mendenhall and Holmes did when Tomlin challenged them.
What did you mean here? Titans lose to Chargers or Texans lose to Dolphins?
Well, one out of two ain’t bad.
The only thing worse than the performance of the Steelers is that of the announcers right now.
Nick Eason is the better man at RE on opening downs even if Keisel is OK. He and Keyaron Fox should be playing more downs.
ETA: Ooh look, empty formation and a sack. That looks familiar.
Steelers going to eke out another one, from looks of it. Nice to see them beat the Ravens, whom I dislike for their theft of the franchise from Cleveland.
Was that another awful Big Ben interception negated by an iffy illegal contact fifteen yards from the interception? Holy smokes, this Big Ben guy is kinda lucky to have not blown that game too.
**
They win at Baltimore** Check
The Jets lose to the Colts Currently losing
The Titans lose to the Dolphins I’m not sure - Dolphins lost to Houston, Chargers beat the Titans.
The Jaguars lose to the Patriots Check
The Broncos lose to the Eagles In play 0-0
My favourite snippet of commentary today, “The Ravens only rushed three that time. That’s what allowed Holmes to get open against the zone.”
What the fuck? Sadly, I know what they were trying to say. The three-man rush gave Ben time to work but sweet-interception-dropping-Jesus they could be a helluva lot clearer about it rather than backing their way into every description.
Is there a scenario under which if the Steelers make the playoffs they would play the Bengals in the first round? I’d really, really like that. We owe you guys for 2005, which was a remarkably similar situation.
The Steelers have chances to get in as the 5 or 6 seed, and the Bengals will be either the 3 or 4. So they could meet as the 3/6 game or the 4/5.
Still think it’s over?
I would like to state for the record that I was at the game, and the ONLY people who were there that thought that Mason didn’t fumble that ball were the refs. Not even the Ravens fans in the crowd had the stones to try to claim that wasn’t a fumble. Catch, two steps, ball starts coming out. That’s how it is supposed to be, but not today.
Good thing the Steelers get all the calls, though.
From this page, it looks like this is most likely:
- Well, obviously.
 - Check!
 - Umm…likely? Probable? Definitely? In any case, I like the odds.
 - Unless this is one of those “So lop-sided, it’s an upset” instances that are so prevalent this year, I think this is in the bank.

So, Ziggy Hood now has more interceptions than all our cornerbacks combined. Ike Taylor showed him though, matched his sack total.
I would like to see the numbers on the Ravens run game. It looked like they targeted our right side and I don’t blame them. James Harrison came into the game beaten up and Brett Keisel and Lawrence Timmons are not stout run defenders. Keisel can’t beat his block and Timmons takes poor angles to the ball. When he does get there he tackles high and needs help. Not a big deal when Harrison and Clark can help him but that’s not happening right now. The rest of the D-line played well and I think Lamarr Woodley is our best player on defense this year with Polamalu out.
I tried to stay positive about William Gay. I’m not so sure anymore. He just doesn’t seem to get it. They need to draft a corner on the first day next year; it’s too important to keep putting off.
And Baltimore dropped a wide open pass in the end zone to keep the Steelers alive.
Where were you at? I was almost on the 50 in the 500’s and it was obvious to everyone around me that it was a fumble as it happened. There were a few other “weird” calls - like the offsides that was called on us 30 seconds into the play, right as we were sacking Flacco - but that was definitely the most WTF of the game.
