The sky is falling!!!!

I just recently read in a source that shall remain nameless at this time that in 1898, snowflakes fifteen inches in diameter and eight inches thick were reported to have fallen in Missouri. What’s the dope on this? Is this even possible? If it is, I would have hated to be the kid that had to shovel the driveway, or I guess at that time, the wagonway.

My WAG: BS!!!

I’ve seen clumps of snow bigger than table-tennis balls drifting gently out of the sky. These were bunches of small snowflakes stuck together rather than solid globs of ice, but it was a most unusual sight. I imagine that if circumstances were right the clumps could be bigger yet–but I haven’t seen them any bigger.
