The Slap Game AKA Red Hands AKA Slap Hands

You know that game you used to play as a kid where hands were held one on top of the other and one person would try to flip their hands around to hit the other person’s hands before that person pulled them away.

What were your rules?

As an additional question: Were free hits available? How could you score them?

Free hits were available after 3 flinches- ie: if you don’t move your hand for a slap (ie: you just make the jerking motion), and they pull their hands away- that’s 1…
If they got 3, that’s a free slap onto the hand.

You could use either hand to slap either of their hands (though the cross hand slap was ridiculously slow and not a sound strategy), as well being able to use both hands to attempt slap both of thier hands.
The key was contact had to be made by at least 1 hand to continue being the slapper.
If they pulled away and you missed, you assumed the position to be the top hands then.
If you did both hands and made contact with only one hand- it still counted and they had to assume the position still.

Yeah, those are pretty much the rules I played by.

Same here.

But the one-hand fake followed by a cross-hand slap with the same hand was a killer combo.

I’m curious as to what other variants there are that the (currently) 5 other people have chosen as their option.

And the reason I started this thread was because on Saturday night I played this game with my wife at a bar and she yelled at me because I wasn’t using both hands to slap simultaneously. I thought her version was a ridiculous bastardized version of my awesome slap game and I’m glad to see my option doubles her option in respondents.

Heh, I used to play this game like crazy in middle school- sometimes I’d come home and my hands would be red and bleeding from playing for hours. Not exactly the sort of thing that thrilled my parents! -_-

It was a sound strategy though- the Turtle strategy- if you plan on taking all comers, and you’re slow and steady- the first few slaps are taken until the hand is numb or you don’t really fear the slap anymore. Then you become lethal, striking at others who scream out or wince in pain- when they see in your eyes you no longer fear getting on top- then you have the psychological advantage… fear creeps into their eyes, and they start to leave more obvious clues about their slapping technique…

And why yes, I was the weird 8 year old who’d read up on psychology and other random things in the encyclopedias to apply to random situations
