WRT games, does the term “the slippery bitch” mean anything to you?
It used to be another name for the card game Hearts, but I think it’s use has (rightfully) fallen out of favor. I’d look at someone askance if they called it that today.
Yeah, I think the only time I might have heard it is in reference to the Queen of Spades in Hearts.
I play a lot of games, including a few card games (Hearts being one of them). I’d never heard the term before reading this thread.
Was just wondering, as I was discussing Hearts w/ someone, and they said they had never heard the term.
But I’ve played a lot of hearts in my life, and it was always a quite common term.
I’ve played lots of hearts in my life. I’ve never heard it before.
Upon further reflection, I do now recall hearing another player or two occasionally refer to the Queen of Hearts as “the bitch” while playing Hearts, but I’ve never heard the “slippery bitch” term. I wonder if it’s more regional, and / or generational.
I first heard of Hearts as “Hunt the “Rhyming C word”.” “Find the Lady” to be polite.
The first thing that came to my mind was Bikini oil wrestling, but my mind is not a safe place…
Press on.
I think greyhound racing myself.
Is there a cover charge?
I’ve played Hearts, whist, bridge and poker.
Never heard the term.
Nope. Not heard the term before.
The queen of spades, of course. ETA: it can also just be the name of the game hearts, as well.
I’ve heard the QoS called “The Bitch” but never “The Slippery Bitch” before this thread.

I’ve been uncomfortable with this thread right from the start, but posts 8 and 9
I think put it over the top. I think it’s established that some but not all people are familiar with this name for the game and/or the Queen of Spades, and we’ll just leave it at that. If you want to discuss the game itself, please do so under a different name.
