The snowflakes are out in force

I really wish my fellow Libs would stop their whining. Because pretty soon, we’re all going to be unhappy…

We are definitely all (well, all except perhaps the most determinedly fact-averse Trump supporters like Clothahump who can successfully ignore any evidence that contradicts their preferred propaganda) soon going to be unhappy about disastrous and exploitative policy decisions on the part of the incoming administration.

But why don’t you want your fellow liberals to denounce (or as you put it, “whine” about) such policies? No point just sticking our heads in the sand, after all.

**Clothy **might make out OK. IIRC he runs a martial arts school. Lots of people are going to want to enroll their daughters in self defense classes once the Pussygrabber takes office–**Clothy **could run special classes on how girls can defend themselves from pussygrabbing. And imagine if President Pussygrabber visits Texas in person–enrollment will go through the roof!

Because I don’t think it’s going to help us find any middle ground. The only way to fix this country, post Trump, or otherwise, is for us American’s to find some sort of middle ground. And that’s not going to happen with such intense emotions. We ALL need to calm down and take a deep breath.

And that starts with us Libs. Okay, so the Repubs got their way. Trump is in office, and they have control of the House and the Senate. Let’s just lay back and see what happens. And when it doesn’t work out like we suspect that it won’t, wouldn’t it be nice if the Republican’s didn’t have the advantage of saying: “It was your hate, your resistance, your liberal media, your obstruction, etc. Why Trump’s admin failed!”

Nope. We tried it your way. Now, you wanna try to see if we can find some sort of middle ground?

And this is what disappoints me with so many Libs. IN ORDER TO FIND SOME MIDDLE GROUND, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO CAPITULATE ON SOME ISSUES!

This whining nonsense just makes it look like you’ve got your fingers stuck in your ears chanting to yourself: “La la la la, I’m not listening to anything a Republican has to say.”

Ironically, something we’ve often accused the the Republicans of.

I thought we were better than that. I guess I was naive.

Not his followers. They are too blinded by their ignorance to see what’s true and what isn’t. As long as he Tweets “I’ve got it under control” at 3 AM, he’ll be fine.

:dubious: They’ll say that anyway. I don’t think liberals are required to abdicate our principled responsibility of criticizing and protesting bad policy ideas just because the conservative promulgators of those bad ideas will try to blame liberals for their failure. On the contrary, in fact.

I agree that such criticism and protest should be reasonable and not vituperative, but that doesn’t mean we have to “just lay back and see what happens”. We know what’s going to happen if, e.g., Medicare is abolished or emissions regulations are disregarded, and it’s not going to be good. We don’t have to pretend that certifiably bad and destructive national policy ideas “deserve a fair shake”.

The thing is, though, that liberals already have plenty of middle ground with the positions that majorities of US voters actually support. We shouldn’t abandon those positions just to curry favor with the far-right minority that holds much of the actual power, and plans to use it in destructive ways.

Which issues, specifically and in particular? I completely agree about the importance of picking one’s battles in political opposition, but the well-being of lots of Americans is at stake here.

Which are the Trump administration policies you think we should just stop criticizing and accept without demur? Defunding Planned Parenthood? Increasing the deficit with massive upper-bracket tax cuts? Import-shrinking trade wars? Ignoring the Paris climate agreement? Reversing civil-rights gains for gay and transgender people? Not releasing tax returns or ceasing to pursue his personal business interests as part of his Presidency? Eliminating reproductive rights? What?

What specific things that Republicans are saying do you advise Democrats to “listen to”, in the sense of accepting them without criticism or disagreement? Please, I’m all ears.

Right. Clothy and the other gloaters here epitomize the worst of those who voted for Trump: Clothahump: naive, credulous, incapable of processing information that doesn’t fit his preconceived ideas, unable to engage in logical thought; doorhinge, cretinous troll and asshole; billfish, senile racist goober.

If you mean the board has declined, I disagree. It’s for the better that this particular cohort has a place here - the short-term satisfaction of banning them would ultimately weaken the board, turning it into other boards that select for conformity.

If you mean the right-wing has declined over the years, then… absolutely.

None of which he had a damn thing to do with, except the last, and that number is wrong. Obamacare has fucked up the entire healthcare industry, and people are worse off than they were before it was implemented. Emphasis mine.

Who the Hell uses the phrase “us Libs”? And “liberal media”? Alas, we are not in the position to obstruct Trump’s policies as well as the Republicans did the policies of our first black president.

So, we should “lay back” and try to enjoy it? Sorry, no. Trump’s choices for cabinet posts & other positions do not please me. And I know enough of general Republican policies to realize that they are not good for the country.

(Oh, and it’s “Republicans”–not “Republican’s”…

Well, happy birthday to you!

I find it hard to believe you’re a Sagittarius, though – they’re noted for intelligence and sophistication. What’s your ascendant and moon sign?

If he’s not responsible for the surge in gun sales, why were people buying out of fear of him taking guns? Did he take any guns?

If he’s not responsible for jobs, why is he blamed for unemployment?

I’m surprised you’re not cheering the increase in profits and overjoyed that the workers don’t get any of it.

Why is Obama blamed for a poor economy but not given credit for improvement?

Because Republicans lack intellectual honesty and integrity.

pardon me…
He committed to phasing out unnecessary and outdated weapons systems and signed the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act, in an attempt to limit waste, fraud and abuse in the defense procurement and contracting systems.

In 2010 alone, more jobs were created than had been created during Bush’s eight years.

He pushed through and implemented an auto industry rescue plan that saved as many as 1 million jobs and possibly the entire auto industry.

Increased infrastructure spending after years of neglect.

Through the Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009, he and Congressional Democrats provided tax credits to first-time home buyers, which helped the U.S. housing market recovery.

Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, saved at least 300,000 education jobs, such as teachers, principals, librarians, and counselors that would have otherwise been lost.

etc etc etc

And he got Bin Laden.

And Clothy invokes the Obummer Clause

I’m living in a self proclaimed sanctuary city, in a state that recently declared itself a sanctuary state. Things are just fine here. Other cities and states have done the same thing. Trump threatens to cut OUR funding? GOOD! What we pay out far exceeds what we take in anyway. Talk about empty threats.

Our money goes OUT, to all the “self sufficient salt of the earth independent” types who suck it up as subsidies.

He took our guns, put our names on Obamacare death lists, and then put us all in FEMA concentration camps. Meanwhile the Army conquered Texas (Jade helmet). Oh yeah, he turned us all into Commies too. Then he killed us.

Uh huh. Yup sure did. Killed us all dead.

Now Steve, stop pestering poor Clothahump with facts and data. He has already made up his mind that life during the Obama administration didn’t contain any real-world political and economic phenomena, but was merely a “liberal fantasy world” of “unicorns farting rainbows”.

Telling him about the complexities of actual Administration actions and their real-life impacts is just going to hopelessly confuse him.

You do realize that facts bounce off Clothahump like BBs off an elephant?

The most pathetic thing is that he thinks Trump has anything at all to do with the real world. Everything Trump promises is a magical fantasy with no actual plan as to how to make it a reality.

But Clothahump thinks that he’s the tough minded realist. The perfect picture of a Trump voter.

Did you forget: They turned the frogs gay.
