For that matter, the Neo-Nazis who marched in Skokie were not contributing anything of value to the concept of freedom of expression (arguably the opposite since if their claimed views were put into force, freedom of expression would effectively disappear) but there is still some minor value is making sure that they can speak, if for nothing else to demonstrate how blatantly they lie when they say they’re being suppressed.
Occasionally I watch The Atheist Experience on YouTube. It’d be boring if all the callers were other atheists, talking about how rational atheism is. It’s only fun when a theist calls in and is initially treated with mild deference before being utterly crushed by the hosts pointing out the contradictions in the caller’s own arguments.
Well, if you want your choice of candidate to win, there does have to be some amount of proselytizing involved. And the current method of “Fuck those evil, racist Republicans” isn’t working.

Also, where most of us left-of-center types are at is the result of bending. Obamacare is a way of getting almost-universal health coverage by the most conservative, market-friendly means possible, and conservatives hate it anyway. Cap-and-trade was the same thing for dealing with global warming (and had already been successfully used to combat acid rain and the ozone hole), and conservatives killed it anyway. Etcetera. We bent, and it didn’t do shit. There have to be people on the other side who are also willing to bend.

I have literally no idea what possible value a poster a blinkered and fucking stupid as Clothahump brings to this board. Similarly, I see little value to be gained from arguing with a pathological liar like Doorhinge. I think literally the only posts from DrunkySmurf I have ever seen that I couldn’t classify as blatant trolling were in the Hearthstone thread. These individuals offer next to nothing to this board, save perhaps pariahs to laugh at, and I seriously doubt the board would be worse off without them. Is there a single thread any of these three have contributed anything worth reading to? I mean, fuck dude, if pressed I could probably find something D’Anconia wrote that was actually worth reading. But no, Clothy’s fucking magnum opus consists almost entirely of three kinds of posts:

I literally do not understand for what purpose the powers that be keep these three festering headwounds around. They are immune to the fight against ignorance because they intentionally refuse to take part in it.
