Here is my response to that post. If I saw the above post in GQ, I’d answer the question if I knew the answer, and I’d ask why the results would be helpful. This is the correct and sensible response in GQ, (the second part is optional,) if you’re going to make any response at all.
You know, it’s ridiculous, and probably due to my having slept just three hours for two nights in a row, but I’m really upset about this thread.
I’m a dyed-in-the-wool hardcore lib, someone who believes in the inherent value of intimate familiarity with cultures other than one’s own, close personal friends (along with my wife) with a muslim family, a religious inclusivist, someone who values accuracy and rationality in communication, who asks questions with the intention to learn. I don’t expect everyone here to know all about me–but I did delude myself into thinking people in general around here probably had a generally accurate notion that I was roughly the kind of person I just described.
It would appear not.
I don’t think my OP requires any special knowledge of my personality to understand. The over-reading is just completely strange no matter how I look at it. But it’s definitely not even remotely possible for people to have misunderstood my OP so broadly unless the OP might as well, from their standpoint, be my first post ever–the post of a stranger. And yeah, TMI, but I found that really upsetting.
ETA: Moreover, supposing someone posted just as you said, but prefaced it with “I’m dealing IRL with someone who thinks that blacks in general typically do these three things,* and I think he’s basically immoral for thinking this, but I do want to have hard facts in hand before continuing the conversation.” In other words, suppose my #22 were wrapped up with my OP–which should be how you regarded things in the first place as you should have read all my posts before making such accusations. In that case would you still think “Troll”?
*Which, by the way dearest Ibn, is a key fucking distinction between my OP and your little joke–as there are not a lot of people who think blacks in general typically do these three things, while there are well known to be a lot of people who think muslims in general typically believe the things discussed in my OP. This means the explanation for the “blacks” post would best be found in the OP’s own beliefs, while the explanaiton for the “Muslims” post would not so definitely need to be thought to be found in the author’s own beliefs.
Note the key noun in the quote: “MUSLIMS”. If instead it was the blood of innocent non-believers, the severity of the action and willingness to accept the ends as justifying the means would be a bit different…
I realize that you have the escape clause in referring to parody and that you did not explicitly say that Frylock was trolling, posting it as a commentary on his text, but you need to be a lot more careful to avoid giving the appearence of calling someone a troll outside The BBQ Pit.
To everybody else: the implications of the OP’s questions, intended or unintended, have been addressed. From here on out, you need to either post about the questions or answer them rather than discussing side issues like the OP’s motives. If not, I’ll be closing this shortly.
And you did not get Warned for that response, but it is more than just a bit disingenuous to claim that you needed to make your point by including allusions to trolling.

On the violence issue, it appears Muslims as a whole come out as less tolerant of Violence than Orthodox Christians and Roman Catholics–and just about exactly as tolerant as the population as a whole. That’s very useful information.
(Negatives like “not” and “don’t” in survey questions where the respndant is asked to “agree” or “disagree” make me nervous–but I figure the potential for misunderstanding is smoothed over in the statistical aggregation.)
