The Sooners bum out an entire state.

Aw, dammit, forgot about that one. I was living in the UK between 1994 and 2000 and my memory of college football from those years is a complete blank. Hell, I can’t even remember who the champions were during those years…

No one ever talks about other sports.

The deadline approaches for MLB teams to reach arbitration with potential free agents.

(Happy Yookeroo?)

Neurotilk: don’t knock fattening up on second-rate schools. It’s the only way some teams get to go to second-rate bowl games (like those at certain Universities I work for, but will not name).

LSU had originally scheduled Marshall and Troy State, two teams which… well, they’re not spectacular, but they’re not bad for non-conference games. Here be the details.

Not under Stoops. The choke (or near choke) usually seems to come from the Bedlam series with OSU (Oklahoma State U). Stoops has an amazing record with OU both in bowl games and against high ranked teams.
For this year, I think the winners of of the Sugar and Rose should play for the true Nat Championship. Won’t happen, but I like to dream…

BCS Sugar Bowl = Bowl to Chose Second

On a somewhat related note: I wonder how much this will cost the local economies of So. Cal and New Orleans? I was all set to plunk down some large money in the Big Easy on hotels, drinks, food, drinks, game tickets, drinks and partyin’.

Nobody I know is going to be buying airline tickets, hotels, rental cars to go across town to the Rose Bowl (if they go to the game at all. I’m not. I’ll watch it on TV).

The BCS is crap.

I don’t see why the NCAA, the conferences – I have no idea who is in charge – or the TV networks could blend a playoff system with the bowl system. They already have a bowl season over which the playoff could take place. A 16 team playoff is only four rounds. College teams could play on five days rest.

The regular season would still determine a small playoff field and conference championships would still be important. If every playoff game is a “bowl” of some kind, there would be more bowls for corporations to sponsor, with meaning.

Meanwhile, nobody wants the FSU - Miami game. They play soon enough already. Sadly, that’s one of the interesting interesting bowl games.

Let’s do a single bracket, shall we? I’ll base it on the BCS final numbers and assume a 16 team field.

1 v. 16: Oklahoma versus Washington State
2 v. 15: LSU versus Florida
3 v. 14: USC versus Purdue
4 v. 13: Michgan versus Iowa
5 v. 12: Ohio State versus Georgia
6 v. 11: Texas versus Miami (OH)
7 v. 10: FSU versus KSU
8 v. 9: Tennessee versus Miami (FL)

Have fun picking those games.

It just so happens that several of those games would be epic rematches. Not to say that would be great drama and make – hundreds of squintillions of dollars, or anything!. Notice how 16 teams gives the lower seeds a decent shot at “upsets”?

How could that system make less money than the present system? You could still have lower tier bowls for the other teams.

muttermuttermutterfuckingvirginiatechlosttofuckingvirginiamuttermutter…

Bee Cee what?

The bcs is correct in the teams to go to the Sugar bowl. For one thing is OU was undefeated during the regular season while both USC and LSU both were not.

But LSU and USC won their conferences, while OU didn’t. USC doesn’t have a conference championship game. Odd, losing your conference, being ranked #3, yet playing for the national championship.

Sorry about all those typos in that last post. We ran out of coffee yesterday.

Wahoo!
Go K-state!

A Kansas native’s Christmas dream came true on Saturday. Thank you God! Thank you Bill Snyder! Way to stomp those bastards!

I’d like to thank Kansas State, Boise State and even Notre Dame for their contribution to the demise of the BCS.

Fie upon you, NCAA, ESPN and BCS, fie on you!

The old way, in which each team had it’s ‘version’ of it’s claim to number one was far far far better than any computerized shit.

Does anyone really believe the computer makes this stuff up. Someone had to put the data into the program, ya know.

Oh, btw, Go Trojans!

excackly(sp) that is why OU shouldn’t be penaltized for losing the conference chapmpionship gams because it is not during the regular season.

Damn I cant spell tonight
