Yeah, I don’t really think so either, but it could happen! Ok, well it couldn’t, but who the hell knows???
I don’t usually parse IMDB cast information and the like, but I did look at the listed cast for the last episode. (Link disabled to prevent accidental spoliation: "The Sopranos" Made in America (TV Episode 2007) - IMDb)
That list provokes the following thoughts:
It’s so short! Have they suppressed the full cast list in order to prevent people from learning too much? If this is the full cast, we are in for one weird episode. Rhiannon but not AJ? The only Family members are a dead one and a crazy old one?
Or have I simply missed something and am tilting at windmills?
I still think AJ is going to die.
But, more importantly, my Mom has HBO, so when is the last episode on?
IMHO, I think it’s going to end on a note of “life goes on, although the glory days have long since been passed” Tony, his family, and Paulie will live. The Brooklyn family: Phil will be dead or in prison, but what’s the point? Tony’s actions are mainly to blame for the weakened position of the Jersey mob. Compared to just a year ago, the Soprano family will really just be a glorified crew.
Long shots:
- Little Carmine whacks Phil.
- Tony retires and passes control to Paulie.
Extreme long shots:
- Da! The Russian returns and kills everyone.
- Quack! The ducks return and poop on everyone.
- Chop! Chris rises from the grave with a cleaver for a hand.
- L’chaim! A Mossad agent offs Tony, and the Jewish mob is reborn, headed by Hesh.
Is there any possible ending that a large number of people won’t complain about? I know that I can’t come up with one. Almost seems like an impossible task.
Plus, I’m away on business at a hotel without HBO! I’ll have to miss it and avoid any media for 48 hours!
Does it portend anything in particular for how The Sopranos will end that this thread has a:
Whiteknight;
Blackknight;
kingpengvin; and
Argent Towers (Castle)?
I’m scared for Tony.
Going by the odd composition of the IMDB cast tist, it could certainly be that Christopher, Dr. Melfi, Carmela, etc. appear in flashback as Tony sees his life passing before his eyes, as his blood drains away and the lights go dim. I’m reminded of his hallucination about the talking fish in the market telling him Pussy was a stoolie.
Paulie has to be at the center of it. He’s tried to switch sides before, and Phil did NOT order a hit on him. Even Bobby was more worthy of it, if Paulie isn’t a rat after all.
Whatever the case, if there’s any sort of convention or tradition about the genre, Chase has deliberately avoided it. That makes anything we can think of probably far afield. There’s a report, btw, that there were 3 endings shot, just for security’s sake.
If a movie is planned the main characters must survive.
If a movie is planned it will have to be “The Sopranos: The Next Generation”.
Or else be a prequel - “Tony Soprano: The Wonder Years”

There are characters who were shown in the previews who are not on that list. I don’t think it can be complete.
Or “The Sopranos: Deep Six(ty Nine)”
(Count the puns!)
They already made “The Sopornos”.
In the preview shown after last week’s episode, there was a shot of AJ at night, his face lit by an orange light, looking at something with horror. I think he’s going to get involved with the Arabic guys that the feds are looking for and see them blow up Meadow’s school with her in it. He’ll be so upset about the innocent lives he has destroyed that he kills himself.
Carm is devastated and filled with self loathing that she has essentially sold her soul by staying with Tony and it has now cost her her children. She gives Tony an ultimatum: He can atone for his sins by giving evidence or she’ll do it. In either case, she is leaving him. Tony is destroyed because he has lost his kids and agrees to squeal. He heads to the Bing to get his records.
Janice finds out that the kid that Bobby whacked in Canada was her long lost son Harpo. She storms into the Bing, gunning for Tony. Paulie will take the bullet meant for T and die, but not before blowing her away.
Tony has now lost everyone. He calls Phil for a final meeting, face to face, alone. They face each other, lots of bluster and swearing. Tony tells Phil that he’s done and is out. With that the Feds come driving up, choppers swing in. Tony tells Agent Harris that all the evidence that he will need against Phil, including tapes he has made, can be found in his trunk.
As Phil is being dragged off by the feds, he yells at Tony, “We’ll find you! No matter where you go, we’ll get you!”
“No you won’t, “says Tony as he shoots himself in the head.
The scene ends with the camera pulling up away from Tony lying on the ground, the blood pooling around his head. As he is dying, he starts to smile. We hear ducks quacking. Fade to black.
Goodness yes, where’s my head? That was inconsiderate. Thanks for the edit.
You did read the comments and mod admonishments upthread regarding information from previews, right?
Sorry about that. You said in your previous post that you had seen last weeks episode, so I didn’t think my reminding people about what was already shown in the preview would be considered a spoiler worthy item. If what I was writing about was based on info I received from the production crew, then I would have definitely spoilerized it. Since I was just pulling stuff out of my ass, I didn’t think it would be needed.
Again, my apologies if I ruined anything for anyone. Can a mod fix that portion of my post?
Ok… Let’s go all out!!
Tony is attacked by a swarm of Zombies…all the guys he’s personally killed and a few he ordered whacked. At first he tries to fight back but Zombie Chris intones over and over again… “You can’t kill us we’re already dead” They swarm him and the last shot finds him on a boat at night being tossed overboard… He laughs and swears he’ll get back on them. His manic glee slowly subsides as the lights of the boat disapear in the blackness
As the screen goes black all you can hear is the sounds of the ocean… and then suddenly the quack of a duck.
Thanks for the apology, but I change the channel at the end of the show so I won’t see what’s in the preview for next week’s show.
Are you talking about the recap at the beginning of the show?
Your post be can be fixed by clicking on the post number of another poster’s entry and asking that your post, # ____, have a spoiler added.
I’m hoping that there’s some resolution on Janice’s situation. I can’t see her giving adequate attention to Bobby’s kids now that he (and his large income) are gone.
I figure the last episode will have an epic gun battle, with the main guys either getting whacked or arrested. Fade to black.
Then “Twenty Years Later” - it’s the town where Vito went into hiding - still quaint as can be. There’s a little pizza joint on Main Street. Thru the window, we see an old man at the register, doing a crossword puzzle, pausing to smooth his snow-white pompadour. Pull back to the sign “Sil’s Authentic Italine Cuisine”
Cue credits.
