Does anyone know how to tell if a particular copy of The Sorrows Of Satan is a 1st edition? In this case, a US first.

The first American edition was by J. P. Lippincott in 1896. It won’t state first edition, but will give 1896 on the title page. The book is in red cloth with silver lettering.
