The St. Patrick's Day Irish Drinking Song Thread

The dirtiest song ever…Ball of Kerrymuir.

The McKrells – All of the Hard Days are Gone

And, of course, “An Irish Ballad”. Sing rickity-tickety-tin.

Never before has there been such a moving version of “Danny Boy.”

Jeeezuz! What a nice collecton of tunes!

Devilknew, I thought I left rap with the Beasties, but you just re-awakened me, thanks!

And janis, how much do I love you, Honey, and thanks for my main man’s song: Jim Croce!

Please keep the thread going and know that I will watch/listen to all of them!

Who started this SCHEISSE anyway, huh???

Some “ficking” Churman, probably!

Love y’all!

Okay, me again, sorry, but I have learned something within this thread, and may I share it with you, please?

  1. The Irish are a tough people, and if it comes down to it, we’d be well-advised to follow what they’ve done in the past to survive.

  2. The Irish seem to know a “way” to laugh at their troubles, put them into song, and bring us into their way of life.

  3. If you are Irish, you ROCK!

Thanks

Couple of good ones:

Kiss me I’m Irish - Gaelic Storm

Caledonia - Dougie MacClean

The Night Pat Murphy Died
The Rising of the Moon (a rebel song, but I like to drink to it)
The Barley Mow

DAMN good ones, Mr. Barking Dog, thanks, and I’ll have to remember Gaelic Storm’s advice about drinking only on the days whose names end in “y”.

I’m still watching and listening, and thanks from this old demented dude for brightening my day.

Thanks

PS: “Whatever happened to The Hooters, Terry?” (to be read in an Irish accent like in the film “The Commitments”).

Quasi O’ Modem

Wanted to add that I had never, before today, heard “Caledonia” (well, at least not in a version which included the question, “what makes your big head so hard?”:)), and I was impressed by Dougie’s thumb and finger picking, as well as the tune itself.

I love guitarists who go outside of the norm to make their music. Chet Atkins using that thumb being one example!

Thanks,

Also, who else here was under the impression that “Irene, Good Night”, was a love song?

Thanks,

If someone else has already linked this I’m sorry - my teenage son is imploring me not to play any more till after hes gone to school! :stuck_out_tongue:

Bugger Off! (NSFW language)

A great drinking song - I Ain’t Drunk (I’m Just Drinking)

I’ll admit I’m not certain Albert Collins is 100% Irish.
