The Straight Dope on TV... what happened to it.

Having been a SD reader for years (knew someone from Chicago, she had the books, passed them around, eventually the Montreal Mirror picked up the column) – I know that not having a television helped you fight ignorance. But I was weak, so I got a television. A few years ago, for a short time, Showcase was broadcasting half hour episodes of a television version of SD!!! I was amazed: not only could I watch television, but I could fight ignorance at the same time (and I was in lust with the presenter). Then it disappeared from the airwaves (okay, let’s be honest, not air waves but cable…). What happened? If this has already been answered, please direct me to the thread.

The TV show was originally on A&E, but didn’t do that well; about the time it was cancelled, I remember a snarky announcement on the SD Homepage, commenting that perhaps the target audience of A&E was not, shall we say, hip enough for the SD.

There’s still a mention of it on the SD Homepage, in the FAQ section.

Even if it ever comes back, will they be able to get the blue-headed guy to narrate it? It just wouldn’t be the same without him.
