The strangest show

MODERATORS – PLEASE MOVE TO CAFÉ SOCIETY IF YOU THINK IT APPROPRIATE – BUT REALLY?

I just watched the strangest show on BBC; it took place in what used to be a Chinese British Crown Colony. It was hosted by a giant hairy ape and a dynamic Beijing gang with big dicks who didn’t know which pipe to use.

It featured table tennis, bell-ringing, a board game, and members of a Star Trek species crooning in harmony – that’s right – it was a –

Hong Kong, King Kong, strong tong, long-dong, wrong bong, ping pong, ding- dong, mahjong, Klingon sing-along.

It was oddly moving; the only other t.v. show that affected me in the same way was a Discovery Channel special about the town of Nantucket in Massachusetts.

Have any of you ever seen a similar show? Please share.

The pseudo-documentary/horror movie Freaks from 1932 is about as strange as they come. It features a cast of real carnival side-show performers whose real lives were fascinating in their own right.
I have only seen pieces of it because the full version is still considered too shocking for widespread availability but longish clips of it are available on Youtube and elsewhere.

Here is a short sample:

and the trailer:

Another is the short film, Sunday’s Game. It has some of the most realistic acting I have ever seen. I won’t tell you what it is about but it isn’t for the faint of heart and its only 8 minutes long.

Sunday’s Game was hysterical! I loved it! Thanks!

I haven’t followed the history of Freaks, but I’m pretty sure I saw the whole version several years back–including the ending, which was almost too much. Almost, that is.

I submit Tales From the Far Side. Saw it on TV ONCE and never again until a month ago when I discovered it on YouTube. IT. IS. STRANGE. If you’re not familiar with the comics, it may go right over your head, but it does play like a live-action comic strip.

Strange? Mr. Pickles and SuperJail.

These people need therapy.

Netflix has it on DVD. The original ending was too shocking, and it has disappeared. I would love to see the original ending and the parts that were cut out.
