In my bedroom I can only get one FM radio station, no matter where the dial is set. It’s always Mix 106.5, whether the tuner is on 106.5 or not. AM doesn’t seem to be similarly afflicted. Oh, and before you say it’s my radio, the same thing has occurred on three different radios.
What could it be and how can I escape the mind-numbing stupidity of the Bill and Marla Morning Show?
I suspect it has something to do with the 42,000 watt transmitter about 5 miles away, but there has to be more to it than that, right? It’s not like my truck has the same problem when I’m driving near my house.
Well, it’s possible that since it’s the strongest signal your clock radio simply drifts to it because of an automatic fine tuning mistake. I used to have a similar problem when I lived at my previous place. It was 106.5 or static. I feel your pain.
Don’t forget Internet radio.
A lot of stations stream over the net now.
When I was in high school, there was [del]an elevator music[/del] a beautiful music station almost literally down the street from my house. I don’t know if that big-ass antenna out back of their studio was their only transmitter or not, but during quiet parts of any tape I made during that time, you can hear their signal bleeding all over the circuitry of my stereo system.
