The Tanks Thread is Closed?

This one.

I imagine there are good reasons - I just fail to see them.

SOP with zombie threads, innit? It is coming on for four years old.

Oops- missed that and thanks for the info.

Apologies to Czarcasm if he/ she took offence.

He/she takes no offence.

I was thinking of commenting on this one but decided not to. But I’ll jump in on this.

I don’t see a reason why it needed to be closed. I understand that it was a zombie but there was nothing time sensitive about it. Nothing could be gained by opening a new thread about the same topic. Its not like it was a “Did you hear what George Bush said last night?” thread from two years ago. I think most zombies should take a shotgun blast to the head but I don’t see a need to kill them all. If there was no interest in it the thread would have dropped off soon anyway. Not a major point and I’m not upset by it but I did think about it when I read the thread.

It should be a rule that when a thread is closed, the closing post must state why explicitly.

It did. Well, explicitly enough for most of us, anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

As I understand it, it’s because some of the past participants may no longer be members.

Well, yes, and especially if you are going to debate with them about something. I mean, if they are gone (or just no longer following that thread) you are beating up an un-aware opponent.

But I am not sure if this applies to the Tiher tank thread. I don’t think we’d call this heated debate. This may well have been a zombie that you guys could have left to wander the earth.

Indeed.

Tanks for the memories.

I am aware of the reasons for killing zombies. And I agree with them. But like DrDeth said there was no heated debate. It was not like anyone needed to defend themselves. I had a couple of points to add that some may have liked. Not enough to open a new thread. Maybe the discussion would have died, maybe it wouldn’t. The topic was not one that was going to spoil due to age.

I didn’t lose any sleep over this but since this thread was opened I thought I’d throw in my 2 cents.
