Given Elway’s less-than-stellar quarterback draft picks when he was the Broncos GM, that’s rather faint praise.
Elway made one great move as GM, and that was signing Peyton Manning when he was a free agent. But drafting quarterbacks Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, and Chad Kelly don’t rate terribly high on the eye-for-talent meter. In the 2018 draft, Elway chose DE Bradley Chubb with the #5 pick overall. Two picks later, the Bills selected Josh Allen.
