The travesties, the shams, and the mockeries-remakes

They’ve already done “Slapshot 2: Breaking the Ice.” with the original three hockey players as the Hansons. So why not a third go-around?

And according to this entry, Steve and Jeff Carlson and Dave Hanson are indeed cast as the Hansons for Slapshot 3.

:smack: Made a goof there. Slapshot 3 has already been released. So why not one more go-around?

And with Leslie Nielsen, so you know it is somewhere between good and crap.

Saw him in the only curling movie I can imagine anybody making, much less show on US TV, Paul Gross’ Men With Brooms. It was interesting and fun, but since I’m more a fan of women’s curling, it lacked something.

ETA: That might be boobs. Who was North Shore’s captain a couple years ago? She was cute!

To give us more opportunities to look at Hugh Laurie.

If I can continue the hijack about sequels that aren’t remakes just a little further… People who are interested in seeing a real Ghostbusters III should be informed about the Ghostbusters video game, coming out this summer. Story written by Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis, and with most of the original actors doing voice work. (No Rick Moranis or Sigourney Weaver, sadly.)

Here here - Jackson’s King Kong remake was wonderful (with a few minor bad moments). IMHO, it really made Kong a character, rather than the original (which I also love), where Kong was much more inconsistent and the human characters were mostly interchangable.

I’ll your praise of the '05 Kong with a small nitpick. I am morally certain (see above for definition of same) that this movie’s Kong was a female, and that her love for Ann Darrow was misplaced maternal affection, not impossible romantic longings.

Ah, well that explains it then: Jackson was really remaking a different movie.
Here’s the theatrical trailer for this sadly obscure re-visioning of De Laurentiis’ 1976 epic, which was itself a remake of some other movie. Warning: possibly not safe for human consumption. It was the 1970s, y’know? Don’t look if you’re among those of a certain age and still want to keep kidding yourself about your formative years.
