The tree of liberty needs to be watered with the blood of school children

Go fuck a chainsaw. Are you including the “leftie educator” who gave his life to protect them?

Yep, couldn’t have anything to do with watching their friends and classmates die. Nope, no chance of that.
Did you really drink an entire bottle of bleach or something?

How fucking dare you. Those kids watched classmates die. They hid in fear of their lives, knowing they could be next. They walked past the bodies of their friends, not realizing the shooter was walking with them. And you want to dismiss their reactions as “parroting sentiments fed to them” ?

What a disgraceful thing to say. What a liar and a fool you are.

I forget where I have said this, so I may repeat.

The parents and grandparents of today’s schoolchildren have failed to keep them safe.

We need to step aside and let them try to solve this problem. Anyone who was an adult when Columbine happened should be ignored, they have lost their moral authority.

Yep, sure do.

There is nothing inherently reflexive in seeing one’s schoolmates shot that results in a reaction of “Fuck your thoughts and prayers”. Mockery of thoughts and prayers is a recent tactic cooked up by the left to advance their agenda of gun control. We haven’t heard this after Columbine or any other mass shootings I’m aware of, and so for these students to suddenly be so outraged at the idea, it has obviously had to come from a source external to the students themselves. And given that today’s schools have essentially become SJWism factories, the school’s teachers are the most likely source of this manipulation, albeit boosted I’m sure by their local and national news media.

Now, having said that, it so happens that ‘thoughts and prayers’ are often quite comforting to people in times of stress or loss. I have a friend who’s been battling cancer and she is most certainly comforted by the thoughts and prayers of her family and friends and is quite vocal in saying so. One of the things we hear most often when serious misfortune befalls someone and is publicized in the media is how comforting it is to receive cards and letters expressing sympathy and prayers and to know that so many people, often strangers, are thinking of and wishing them well.

So you’re off base there too.

Anything else?

Yeah, the representatives who offer “thoughts and prayers” and nothing else, year after year, and block any practical solution to gun deaths in America reveal that they are not relevant.

It is the GOP money guys that are relevant. See A top GOP donor says he won’t write another check to Republicans until they support an assault weapons ban. I don’t know what more proof you need that the country is becoming a plutocracy. Why are we even discussing these “thoughts and prayers” clowns? We need to identify the money guys and lobby them personally, since they make the policy decisions in this country.

Oh, and change that state of affairs.

That friend battling cancer wouldnt want those thoughts and prayers instead of high quality education treatment, right? With drugs and procedures that have been tested for safety and efficacy, and doctors trained by accredited institutions?

I bet your friend would say “fuck thoughts and prayers” if they were offered up instead of someone actually caring for her.

Do something real to protect these kids and the thoughts and prayers will be a comfort. Offer platitudes instead of anything real- yeah, fuck that shit.

It’s pretty easy to understand that these kids have also grown up with school shootings being relatively common. Thoughts and prayers are a nice sentiment but they don’t do anything. It’s reasonable for people to be angry that apparently the only thing that happens is “thoughts and prayers” until another mass shooting happens and another and another. They got to watch their peers die. They’re traumatized. Of course they’re angry at being offered nothing but a nice sentiment.

This isn’t cancer. Laws and legislation won’t prevent cancer, but they do have the potential to prevent more kids dying for no goddamn reason.

So in your mind you’ve just won an argument with an ad hoc and evidence-free rationalization?

All right then. Well I think you’ve been bought off by the gun manufacturers, and my proof is your last post. Q.E.D.

Also: how about actually thinking about and discussing the message? Instead of just saying “That sounds like leftie-speak” and covering your ears.

I’m not surprised these kids are more politically motivated than those who survived previous shootings. Our world is becoming more interconnected and more political all the time. Did the kids at Columbine react angrily to a thoughts and prayers tweet? No, because Twitter wasn’t yet a thing, and the President didn’t use 140 characters as a substitute for actual thought and communication.

It’s fucking vile to dismiss their reactions because you don’t agree with their sentiments, especially while saying that other kids, who know better or something, aren’t being covered.

i don’t believe anyone is saying “Fuck gun control, accept our thoughts and prayers instead.”

Offering condolences in times of deep concern or tragic loss is a time-honored courtesy that has existed for centuries, and those who are offering theirs now are simply acting on that impulse. To mock them and behave as thought they are assholes is just another example of the type of groundless villainization that always seems to accompany the liberal agenda (and which in large part is why Donald Trump is sitting in the White House). One would think you all would learn, but apparently one would be wrong.

You’re right, people aren’t saying “accept our thoughts and prayers instead”. They’re simply offering thoughts and prayers (a nice gesture) but nothing else. We’re talking about kids that have grown up seeing this happen time and time again with apparently nothing changing, and they’re likely well acquainted with how helpful slacktivism is. Why on earth would they think this time is any different?

Shooting after shooting after shooting and all that’s been offered up is thoughts and prayers. These kids are deawing a line in the sand. They are saying enough thoughts, enough prayers, do something else.

Are you so blind you don[ see the pattern for years now? These kids grew up seeing it and they’ve had enough. If the adults won’t make something happen, they will. Good on them. It is NOT these kids jobs to be gracious when the adults have failed them. The earned their anger- let them express and use it.

If the 200 patients before your friend were only offered thoughts and prayers and no medicine, and she was offered the same thoughts and prayers too, dont you think she’d be shouting from the rooftops for more?

Riiiiiggght. Because people are always so calm and rational right after suffering through a major tragedy. :dubious:

(Here’s a hint: it’s not mocking “thoughts and prayers”. It’s mocking people who offer nothing BUT their “thoughts and prayers”. Dumbass)

You are vile and you should rot in hell like the filth you are.

Well, I for one won’t be participating in the Starving Artist show, in which he hijacks another thread with asinine positions a normal human being would never have. Chastising the child victims of a massive school shooting for not being generous enough when offered platitudes. Jesus Christ.

I fully understand and am in agreement with their exasperation that this is going on. My own anger over the issue is why I blew up here a couple days ago. But the right and the left have different ideas as to why this is happening and what needs to be done about it, and the behavior of the students this time smacks heavily of being the result of left-wing agitation. No one is unhappy with them for being outraged, what people such as me are saying though is that they’re being used as tools by the left to further its own agenda and which in the mind of us righties will leave us more vulnerable to the criminal element for which no idea whatsoever has ever been floated to keep them disarmed. There are stories in the news every day where someone has been saved from criminals through the use of their legally owned firearms, and so we naturally resent efforts to take that ability away, and especially so when grieving students are manipulated into becoming a voice for those efforts.

In the words of the greatest president of my lifetime, there you go again. I did not ‘chastise’ those students. Not even remotely. What I did was point out that they’re being manipulated for political gain.

In the mind of a demented fuckwit who defends child rapists, kids who survive to adulthood can only become witnesses for the prosecution.

I am so stealing this.
