The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues (Part 1)

“I’m gonna give everyone $2000!”

By George, I think he’s got it!

Ok, not really. He is stumbling vaguely toward the crux of the matter, but his “solution” is completely off base.

President Trump took a new line toward ending the government shutdown this weekend, attacking the Affordable Care Act tax credits that Democrats are demanding be extended and calling instead for the subsidies to go directly to consumers.

Through social media posts, the president renewed his attacks on the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare, which he has spent years assailing and promising to replace, but to no avail. Mr. Trump suggested that premiums for consumers and share prices for insurers had risen too much in the 15 years since the law passed, and he was ready to work on a solution — if Democrats reopened the government first.

“I stand ready to work with both Parties to solve this problem once the Government is open,” he wrote on Sunday.

No, Donnie, the insurance companies will never let that happen.

That’s the next step after having concepts of a plan.

Should be

“I stand ready to work with the Republican party to solve shake down the insurance companies once the Government is open,” he wrote on Sunday.

The Democrats get nothing out of ending the shutdown. It’s the Schumer Shutdown and somehow Trump and his faithful GOP senators ended the horrors the Democrats caused.

As of now we’re waiting for Cornyn to vote and be the fucking hero.

If they couldn’t do it literally, the Democrats needed to hold Trump’s feet to the fire metaphorically. He should pay some political capital for this. It’s just like his pseudo-State-of-the-Union where all the Dems did was hold up paddles instead of everyone of them getting escorted out or leaving and rallying on the Capitol steps.

They need to win next November. Maybe not gain one of the houses but make things closer. Fuck it, win one or both of the houses. Where is their Karl Rove?

At the risk of sounding like I approve of the capitulation (I most certainly do not), I have to wonder if the effects of the 10% air travel slowdown — coupled with Dummy’s Duffy’s threat to shut things down completely just before (US) Thanksgiving — might have been a factor. I would imagine the shit would splatter all over everyone regardless of party, and Schumer&Co may have been afraid of the fallout, especially since “It’s the Democrats’ fault you couldn’t spend precious time with Dear Old Grandma” would have been plastered all over the media.

Or perhaps it wasn’t a factor at all. Doesn’t matter: giving in in return for a “premise of a promise” was downright shameful. I can only hope this greases the skids for Schumer to be replaced by someone with a spine.

I’m hoping that the Democrats held out long enough, and stated the reason for doing so (to keep medical insurance premiums from going through the roof), that when the premiums go through the roof the majority of people will know to blame it on the Republicans. Sure Trump and Faux News will try to spin it like it’s the Democrats fault anyway, but I’ve been heartened recently because it seems that other than the MAGA diehards, people aren’t as clueless as I had feared.

I have no doubt of it.

Once again, we need Mister Submliminal!

The felon: “I’m gonna give everyone $2000…”
Mr. Submliminal: “…which I scammed out of them to begin with!”

We’re talking about the felon, right? It’s a whiff of a plan, not a concept of a plan.

Not even the Grinch went this far to make people miserable.

The felon’s fools say they can now send Garcia to Liberia.

Except, of course, for the harm of being sent to a country he has no ties to, and in which he has committed no crimes. And LIberia’s prisons are not exactly model facilities.

Short aside: Governor Newsom has a doozie of a nickname for the felon!

The Nodfather quotes the Dunning-Kruger Times.

Wow, indeed.

“Among those named were Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, John Eastman, Christina Bobb and Boris Epshteyn, including co-defendants in the Georgia case and four who pleaded guilty.”

Why bother with pardoning them now for their work in trying to overturn the election back in 2020? Nobody cares anymore.

Not that I belive the nodfather had anything to do with planning this, but here’s the possible rationale.

  • Situation 1: He doesn’t even try to run for a third team.

    • Any Republican candidate who does not fawn all over this decision, supporting it as righting the terrible wrong done by those evil Democrats will not win.
  • Situation 2: He does try to run for a third team.

    • The magaflatearthers will adore him for pardoning those “legitimate electors” those evil Democrats punished for trying to preserve our democracy.

In either case, this pardon had to happen to ensure the magaflatearthers–which is now, and has been for quite some time, the entire Republican voting population–will vote for the “right candidate”.

(Emphasis mine)

For a second I misread that as you posting a FB quote from your dad because of the part I emphasized, and I was going to say “jeez, yeah, sorry about your dad-- he really is losing his ability to write coherently”.

Several reasons:

  1. Pardoning people who get caught doing your dirty work, will make it easier to recruit others to do your dirty work in the future.
  2. If you are making the claim that the 2020 election was stolen and that your trying to steal it back was fully justified, leaving the “innocent” people who “patriotically” helped you in the endevor in jail is a bad look.
  3. Rewarding people with pardons is a good way convince them to keep their mouths shut.

Its not as though its costs him anything to include them on the list.

The case in New York is dying a slow death. Can’t find a prosecutor and the Judge must be following the law or something to the T as he has threatened to dismiss the case.

Some of those you named pleaded guilty and went to jail. Not sure if any of them remains there. Meadows and Giuliani pleaded not guilty and stand to benefit the most if the case just goes away. So why pardon the former “Mayor of America” just yet?

From the same companies, but they’ll they go back to those pre-Obamacare plans, which cost you six cents a day, but don’t actually cover anything. MAGAs will praise Trump for “Bringing back affordable health insurance”, at least until one of them actually needs healthcare, and ends up bankrupt.

Of course, when that happens, all the other MAGAs will dismiss that person as a “Leftist soy-boy Never Trumper”, who is just trying to hurt the Saintly president Trump with his fake news and made-up “health emergency”.

*Tariffs. That way, China is paying for it!

Key and Peele had a recurring sketch about Obama’s “Anger Translator”, we need a new version, “Trump’s Greed Translator”.

That was great. Especially when Obama started to take over from the ‘Anger Translator’. SNL could do something like that for Trump.

Thanks so much for posting that it was like a breath of fresh air to see a real president again. God I miss him.

As well as more comprehensive plans, which insurance companies could refuse to sell to you if you have a pre-existing condition, or are considered to be at high risk for future medical expenses. That was one of the important things about the ACA: it prevents insurers from denying coverage for such people.
