The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

How goes the actual enforcement of these rulings?

I don’t have access to the latest revisions of AI tech yet Trump would. This is regular ChatGPT:

acting as president, write a short executive order threatening BRICS countries with 1000% tarrifs if they attempt to form a common currency

Executive Order
Subject: Economic Sanctions Against Currency Manipulation by BRICS Nations
By the authority vested in me as President of the United States, and in order to protect the economic and national security interests of the United States, I hereby order the following:
Section 1. Purpose
The BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) have signaled intentions to establish a common currency designed to undermine the U.S. dollar’s role as the global reserve currency. Such actions threaten the stability of international markets and the economic well-being of the American people.
Section 2. Economic Countermeasures
Should the BRICS nations move forward with efforts to implement a common currency:
(a) A 1,000% tariff shall be imposed on all imports originating from any BRICS member state.
(b) U.S. financial institutions shall be prohibited from engaging in transactions with any central bank or financial entity that facilitates the proposed BRICS currency.
(c) Additional sanctions and trade restrictions shall be considered against individuals and entities participating in currency destabilization efforts.

(more stuff like Section 3. Implementation Section 4. General Provisions edited, along with space for his demented signature)

Yeah, I said back in 2016 that Trump didn’t actually want to do the job of President, he just wanted to play the President on TV and at his rallies. Trump’s only consistent goal was to use the Presidency to enrich himself (and if Ivanka and Jared Kushner could get rich too, that was also fine).

Trump’s the “star” of a real-life reality show the world can’t escape.

I thought (and said) the same thing last time, but I don’t think that’s true of this administration.

I think he really believes in things like a trade deficit meaning other countries taking advantage of the US, and this time wants to “make a difference”.

Lord help us.

Here’s one they’ve complied with, albeit in an extremely dickish fashion;

That sounds like a “spitting in the soup before serving it” type of compliance to me.

Sounds like he has accomplished all of his life’s goals and it’s time to get on the next Starship outta here. All in favor?

:raised_hands:t3: :wave:t3: :clap:t3: :+1:

He’ll still need his supporters. I think he and his supporters should ALL climb aboard the starship… like the Heaven’s Gate cult did.

Cheeky

The doge.gov site got hacked today It’s back to normal now but it just goes to show how green and unexperienced Musk’s gang of children are.

Also noted about the doge.gov site is that is uses x.com as its canonical link. That means that it wants Google to drive all traffic to a mirror on the x.com site for the official government news. You know, the website where Musk collects ad revenue and uses visit stats to boost its stock prices.

As long as he takes the entire Republican Party with him and every voter who would be inclined to assent to his destructive insanity, I’m all for it.

And as long as they’re up, they can bring me a pony.

I’ve got a tasty pudding recipe!

A couple of random thoughts today:

Now that Trump is in charge of the Kennedy Center and has a board of directors made up solely of loyalists, when will they vote to change the name to the Trump Center? My guess is within 2 months. Anybody wanna give me odds?

Second, the Navy. Do you remember in Trump’s first term how upset he got when he visited a carrier that was being built and saw the electromagnetic launch system? It wasn’t working correctly and he openly demanded that the Navy replace the new launchers with the tried and true steam launchers. Back then he didn’t have enough loyalists in the military to blindly follow whatever random order he gave so his order was largely ignored. But we know how Trump hates when his orders are ignored and Pete Hegseth is a true believer. Is his openly stating that we won’t be able to fight a war an opening to follow Trump’s previous directive and go back to steam? It would be an idiotic decision, but when we have idiots at the helm it’s what we can expect.

It’s a cookbook!

I thought their subs were rusting in port due to low/no maintenance?

I can’t even. It seems this has been stopped for the moment but that it would even be contemplated:

I’m not sure I’d make that bet:

Russia Submarine Capabilities: Overview of Russia’s submarine capabilities and import-export behavior

… and …

Threats Posted by the Submarine Fleet of the Russian Navy

On the other hand, the Russian Navy has one aircraft carrier, which went into drydock for upgrades in 2017, was damaged three times while in drydock (once when a crane collapsed onto it, and twice by fires), and may not ever return to duty.

WHO THE FUCK DOES CANADA NEED PROTECTION FROM YOU SENILE DUMBASS, HAS ANYONE EVEN EXPLAINED TO YOU THAT STATEHOOD FOR CANADA WOULD MEAN A PERMANENT DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY

Granted the article below is 25 years old but unless Russia has been working hard to re-build its submarine fleet and given the lack of professionalism in the rest of the Russian military and the high incidence of corruption I’m not sure their subs are up to the task. Which is not to say they can’t be dangerous but hardly what they once were as a fleet. I grant that even one can cause a lot of damage but they can only ever be in one place.

Your first link notes they started work on a new class of submarine in 1993. The first of those was commissioned in 2017. The second in 2022. Not a lot.

Has anyone explained to him NATO and NORAD?

IIRC the Kuznetsov was always accompanied by an ocean-going tug because the carrier broke down so much.
