Yes, unfortunately Gretzky did. ISTR he and his wife were W Bush backers but probably backed Trump in 2016 as well. However, I’d venture to guess if he ran as an MP on a “Let’s join the USA as a non-voting territory” platform he’d be booted out of any hockey halls of fame and booed at any events.
If Musk throws enough money at Denmark’s far right as he just did in Germany, and somehow got Peter Schmeichel to cash in his fame for a “Let’s sell Greenland to America” platform, I’d expect he’d get similar treatment. Same if Beckham joined the Reform UK party and backed Nigel Farage.
