I wasn’t sure if he meant that or not, since the word “costume” would have been emphasized slightly differently in the sentence had he meant it non-literally. But at any rate, I at least knew he wasn’t talking about a literal costume, more like “I’ll get ‘all dressed up’ later”. (And of course it turns out he was using “costume” as a non-metaphorical word for “suit”.)
If baseball is “dying,” it’s at least in part because its fan base is aging, and it’s not as popular among younger sports fans as it used to be.
Electing a guy to the Hall of Fame, who last played in baseball 39 years ago, and was declared ineligible to participate in baseball 36 years ago, is not going to do a blessed thing to change that.
Zelenskyy could have shown up dressed like Robert Ross and he still would not be showing as much disrespect for the White House and the office of the President of the United States as much as felon47 does.
And QQ which, IMHO, is a better product than WeChat. Same otufit makes both.
Also he said “after the war” which I missed at the time. Out of some sense of solidarity with his military he has not worn a suit since the conflict began. I suppose that was Churchill’s reasoning (for that white house visit) as well, yet just to see if he kept it up, at least at the Yalta conference he seems to be wearing a military dress uniform.
ETA:
In April 1939, he was named Honorary Air Commodore of 615 Squadron, which entitled him to wear the uniform. As Prime Minister, Churchill made a point of wearing this uniform on official visits to RAF facilities
So he wasn’t exclusively and only wearing his “siren outfit”
They actually used the expression shitshow. Damn! I wonder how respectful felon47 and his waterboy found that to be.
As per Homer Simpson, “Those Norwegians have a word for everything!”
As the son of a Norwegian who came to Brooklyn when he was 14, I’d still not hear him say that word, yet I fully support it. I don’t have a boat to refuel in Norway, yet in Europe I am only Irish.
Doesn’t Pete have enough on his plate already without having to figure out the logistics of refueling ships.
That’s what underlings are for. If they haven’t been fired already.
He’s probably too busy looking for strawberries.
Great, now Elmo Melonhead wants this bullshit to be a weekly thing.
By HRH, do you mean His Majesty?
I think the Brits should cancel Trump’s visit. Any assurances from anyone that Donnie will behave himself will, of course, be meaningless. Although it would be amusing to see Trump try to bully Charles.
Heck, he didn’t behave himself the last time he was invited for a visit.
Are The Mail and Daily Mail the same newspaper? They have different mastheads. A quick search says Daily Mail is Britain’s most right-wing newspaper. A search on “the mail” “british” “newspaper” mostly turns up Daily Mail images, and only a couple of The Mail images.
Yes, HRH stands for “His Royal Highness.”
I’m sure that if Trump tried to bully Charles, then I’m sure Charles would simply look at his watch and say the meeting is over, as he has a pressing engagement he is expected to attend. Remember, he’s been studying and practicing diplomacy for decades, and knows how to end just about any awkward diplomatic situation.
But it would send the message to Trump that he’s not in control of everything that he thinks he is.
Highness is for when you’re a Prince or Princess, whereas Majesty is for when you are the Monarch. So Charles is no longer His Royal Highness, he is now His Majesty.
The Mail on Sunday is just the weekend edition. Same ownership, different editorial staff, same idealogical bent.
Thanks! I guess I got so used to Charles being a prince. Old habits are hard to break, so forgive me, and thanks again!
Too true. He was Prince for 70 years, no wonder it’s second nature to refer to him as such.
