The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

On a lighter vein, the temper tanTrump in the White House is having a meltdown (–> tantrum) because his portrait in the Colorado Capitol is not to his liking (–> apoplexy) and Obama looks better:

So the portrait is to be taken down (–> put out of its misery). It is comforting to know that the really important stuff is taken care of:

That last bit ain’t the fault of the portrait.

You know he would really rather have his mugshot hung everywhere. It’s probably his favorite picture of himself.

No, it’s definitely the one he has hanging in Mar-A-Lago that gives off some major Vigo the Carpathian vibes;

Summary: Government lawyers lied, lied repeatedly, violated court orders willingly and knowingly, violated sworn ethics and were stupid poopy heads.

The federal judge in the Venezuelan deportation case rejected the DoJ argument that a list of passengers and landing details for the deportation flights, was protected under the state secrets act.

A migrant who was on the flight has filed a sworn statement that she overheard agents discussing the court order before the aircraft took off, which contradicts the DoJ statement that they weren’t aware of the order until they were in the air.

The judge concluded that the apparent intent of the government was to deny due process to the deportees, on the basis that they might prevail in court. He also found that every other invocation of the Alien Enemies Act involved a hearing for the individuals involved, and to deny such was unprecedented in American history.

The DoJ appeal of the judge’s order faces similar difficulties. An appellate judge pointed out that even Nazis in the US had access to hearings and due process before deportation.

As a matter of law, if the legal basis of deportation involves qualifications of the deportees, then they must have the opportunity to challenge those qualifications in a hearing before a judge, prior to deportation."

To be honest, I agree with Trump that this is not a really good likeness, and not a flattering portrait. It must hurt, though, that it’s reportedly the gift of a Republican supporter.

Why I am I recalling Blackadder the Third when looking at this portrait? (‘here are my genitals…please kick them…’)

I agree that it’s not a good likeness because it makes him almost look like a normal human being. From the AP article linked above:

Initially, people objected to artist Sarah Boardman’s depiction of Trump as “nonconfrontational” and “thoughtful” in the portrait, according to an interview with Colorado Times Recorder from the time.

Hmmm… “nonconfrontational,” “thoughtful”… is that the Donnie we’ve come to know and hate? I think not.

Easy to see why he prefers this one, which makes him look like the type of scary bully he admires (spoilered in case you know the pic I mean and don’t want to see his ugly mug unless it’s a life-threatening emergency):

Oy. That pic.

I feel like … if I pushed that hard … something would probably prolapse.

Something seems out of proportion in that pic, and it’s not just the “crease” in his crotch. Colour seens a bit too “M” on the CMYK scale too. Is my browser malfunctioning, or is tbat picture just ugly and fucking bizarre?

NM: too much quote material*" that sneaked over from another thread critical of both. I have a multiquote functionality in my browser that can be a curse.

At least I read the preview, right?

Here comes the latest election fraud distraction again…

Well. I have so many questions, starting with, “will I have to re-register?” I imagine Step One is to challenge this in the courts, but I imagine this will end up disenfranchising a lot of non-military overseas voters, which from the Republican perspective is a perk, of course.

“Oh, look, all the mail-in ballots from blue states seem to have been delayed, and won’t be received before Election Day. Yes, even those mailed 3 months before. They just won’t count.”

How to you guarantee they arrive on time?

That’s one reason why I put mine in one of the drop boxes the registrar provides instead of the US mail.

I also signed up to receive a text-message and an email denoting that it was received and then again when it was verified. The bastards will probably figure out a way to screw that up but at least I’ll make them work for it.

It’s going to disenfranchise a lot of military voters, too, due to the already restrictive requirements for mail-in voting for some states.

And on the subject of the Signal disaster, the admin seems to be mostly interested in how an unauthorized person was added to the group chat. I, on the other hand, am only interested in why and how the authorized users were discussing this issue on Signal in the first place.

It has just come to my attention via train Reddit that several of Amtrak’s short-haul commuter lines are going dark effective immediately because there’s been a nationwide recall of the Horizon passenger cars that comprise most of the fleet.

This has GOT to be Elmo’s doing somehow.

No doubt. He’s Xing out everything good and decent he can.
