They’re not stupid. Trump has never kept a ‘promise’
What the hell does that even mean in today’s climate? Lucy & the football come to mind.
So a mere four out of ten Americans like the bang-up job he’s doing when in any sane country or time it ought to be one or two. This is not as reassuring as you’re making out.
Sure. I get all that. But if I were that close to China, and I had a shrinking and aging population of 128 million, I’d be careful to avoid anything that might get me pushed out of the defense umbrella.
And three of the remaining six won’t bother to vote, so the four looneys still run the Circus.
More like some kind of farm – which is fitting, as Felon-ONE seems to have a napoleon complex.
All the need to do is look at their hands and note the skin color to know they are “out of the umbrella”. They are likely trying not to draw the attention of the madman with a nuclear arsenal while they find somebody else willing to accept them as an ally.
I’ve said it since he got on the thug ticket and would most certainly win a 2nd term that as long as the grim reaper didn’t come, he would never relinquish the White House even if the States had their elections and did whatever.
As someone said up thread, any recognition of the Constitution (he swore to uphold) end at Article 10A (not sure where that is) yet it certainly precludes the 22nd as he is Greater than FDR and fully 1/3’rd of American’s don’t give a shit and the rest give him a MAGA majority. And the 12th means nothing too.
The fucker even cancelled Elise Stefanik’s nomination to be ambassador to the upcoming Trump Low Income Housing United Nations just to spite the possibility of that special election being in play to flip the House. It likely won’t be, as word is at least one of Floriduh’s will remain Thug.
He’s put the word out that he’ll be ascending to President so not one rethug even plans to start a campaign against him.
If he lives, he will be President in four years.
The fucking Speaker of the House has read the Constitution. Gracious!
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said this morning there is a ‘constitutional path’ for Trump to seek a third presidential term, but acknowledged it would require an amendment to the Constitution.
“I just told everybody to read the Constitution, there’s a constitutional path,” Johnson told NBC News. “You have to amend the Constitution to do it, and that’s a high bar.”
"I just told everybody to read the Constitution, there’s a constitutional path
I read the Constitution in third grade, just after 18 year olds were granted the right to vote. If this fucker tells me in person to “read the Constitution” to support his King leading forever, I will accept whatever time for battery I am jailed for for slugging him as hard as as I can.
It takes 2/3’rds of Congress and 2/3rd of states to essentially repeal the 22nd.
God-damn Speaker doesn’t even know the Constitution and is lecturing about it like some gold plates he found in his backyard.
ETA: Trump is not “running” for President again. He’s either remaining or ascending to to the position, take your pick.
That suggests that the cold civil war is over when, in fact, it’s just heating up.
NItpick: 3/4ths of the states.
That’s a happy nitpick as the Republicans (thanks much to Karl Rove) were somewhat close to 2/3’rds.
To this day, some states will argue over who ratified the 26th (“18 year olds can vote”) amendment first. Yet they had to wait till the Senate (94-0) and House (92.6%) passed it.
Alas, this time those Republican states will have to wait for Congress to pass it (and to quote the brilliant Speaker “that’s a high bar”) and none will be first to proclaim they ratified the 28th “Annunciation of the King” amendment first as it’s a rare bill that 2/3rds of Congress will agree upon.
Yet Trump has put the word out:
Even start a campaign against me and I will destroy you. There is no “high bar” that Speaker guy was talking about that I cannot go under and I’ve got SCOTUS & The Department of Justice and you do not.
Of course, if they are going to amend, they can repeal the 26th as well as the 22nd. Who needs that pesky youth vote?
Do you have a link for that?
thanks
Sorry, was not a direct quote. I can defend the “How about I stay President for a third or fourth term even” quotes as clear threats to any republican competition. He said what I (just) quoted.
He has not commented on Speaker “high-bar” yet though why should he? Neither is interested in upholding that document-thingy Jefferson (mostly) wrote.
He has SCOTUS and the Department of Justice. Is there a debate?
Just to clarify, I wasn’t asking for a cite as any sort of challenge. I absolutely believe you but I would like to pass this on to others.
I won’t use quotes for things not actually said. Although I’m sure Trump would agree with my “quote”'s meaning he’d still pile lawyers on me for libel,
In 1987, George H.W. Bush told Ronnie Reagan he intended to run for President in 1990. Just good politics I reckon, and having the incumbent back you is always a good thing.
The way myself and other political-type-talking heads (who are paid) see Trump’s announcement that “if it’s good with you it’s good with me” (again not a direct quote) kind of saying is “I am staying. Do not run against me”. Oddly, if the 28th amendment passes I can see either Clinton or (especially) Obama winning (were they inclined).
Yet that won’t happen. Trump will correct all the mishaps that did not lead to him pulling off an American coup d’état. He certainly will have no Republican challenger and okay, maybe too early to say if he’ll have a Democratic challenger and the 2028 vote starts in the States (says so in the Constitution) yet is resolved in that same place (Congress) Trump was defied by his VP at the time.
Um. Might want to re-check those dates.
The Constitution has 7 Articles. 10A is an amendment.
1A Freedom of Stuff
2A Freedom of Guns
3A No Soldiers in your house
4A Property rights
5A Trial rights
6A Right to a speedy jury trial
7A Suits at common law
8A Rights of suspects and convicts
9A Non-exclusivity of the Constitution
10A States and People have rights not specified here
– end of Constitution –
11A about suits between states
12A clarification of Electoral College
13A Slavery Abolished
… a bunch of other irrelevant mumbo-jumbo
Uhh, yeah. Amended: Shortly after Reagan was re-elected in 1984, George H.W. Bush told/asked/made it known to Reagan that he intended to run in 1988. Good and practical politics. The Veep would usually be the guy, yet knowing the President has you covered and the other guy would have a ridiculous press opp in a tank would both be good things if you wanted to be president.
