The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues

I was quoting something upthread that said that was where trump’s recognition of the Constitution ended. I knew it was essentially the “States Rights” yet it is the first amendment that acknowledges that the Constitution itself allows for States to make their own laws.

Yet I cheer this on:

The Constitution has 7 Articles. 10A is an amendment.
1A Freedom of Stuff
2A Freedom of Guns
3A No Soldiers in your house
4A Property rights
5A Trial rights
6A Right to a speedy jury trial
7A Suits at common law
8A Rights of suspects and convicts
9A Non-exclusivity of the Constitution
10A States and People have rights not specified here
– end of Constitution –
11A about suits between states
12A clarification of Electoral College
13A Slavery Abolished
… a bunch of other irrelevant mumbo-jumbo

Still too many. More rights, less freedoms.

I don’t even know where to put things anymore. I read this today, where the Nazis rounded up, and executed, people for protesting.

The White Rose

On February 22, 1943, a Nazi executioner forced 21-year-old Munich University student Sophie Scholl into a guillotine in Stadelheim Prison and beheaded her, before also beheading her brother, Hans Scholl, and a classmate, Christoph Probst within 10 minutes.

Their crime? Distributing leaflets critical of Hitler and the Nazis.

To stand by silently, they claimed, was to be complicit in “the most horrible of crimes – crimes that infinitely outdistance every human measure.” To do nothing was to truckle to Hitler; and “every word that comes out of Hitler’s mouth is a lie.”

White Rose’s third leaflet read, “Why do you allow these men who are in power to rob you step by step, openly and in secret, of one domain of your rights after another, until one day nothing, nothing at all will be left but a mechanized state system presided over by criminals and drunks? Is your spirit already so crushed by abuse that you forget it is your right—or rather, your moral duty—to eliminate this system?”

The fourth pamphlet made a promise: “We will not be silent. We are your bad consciences. The White Rose will not leave you in peace.”

Sophie was caught tossing extra leaflets into her college atrium by a school maintenance man who called himself a “proud German nationalist." He called the Gestapo who arrested Sophie, Hans, and Christoph. Four days later, they convened a show trial after which they each were summarily beheaded.

Sophie’s final words were “How can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause? Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?”

After the war, Sophie and White Rose were lauded as heroes. Streets across Europe were named for her and White Rose. She has been honored in art, city squares, and cinema. And In 2003, she became the fifth woman honored with a bust in Walhalla Temple, the sacred shrine where Germany honors its heroes.

Indeed, resistance is never futile, and antifascism is in fact the hallmark of the Pantheon."

Has this been covered in this thread yet? The bolding below is mine.

So the American taxpayers are now paying for a man who fled gangs to be put in a notorious prison in which there’s a great likelihood he will be attacked by the gangs there. And the administration’s response? “Oops, things happen.”

Where do they get off telling someone their court-ordered status has changed absent another court order? And they obviously know they were wrong; otherwise, there would have been no shell game with moving this man around to a number of places with no notice.

But, of course, the Trump administration does not actually consider him to be a real human and thus the rules of a democratic and lawful society do not apply.

The real administrative error here is the entire Trump administration.

That’s the word that needs to spread. That, and the notion that this kind of thing doesn’t happen overnight, or town to town (despite radio and now TV).

In his infamous teleplay, Rod Serling was saying the Monsters on Maple Street were US. (though with neat alien prologue which itself says they - US - will destroy themselves).

It would require some rather extraordinary evidence to convince me that this wasn’t entirely intentional. It just seems to be too convenient that the end result would be instilling fear to not only undocumented residents and legal resident aliens (as here), but also anyone who might say something Trump doesn’t like.

That’s terrorism. From the US Government. Against it’s own people.

So, can ICE officials who “carelessly” ship people away be held in contempt of court and jailed until they find a way to get their victims returned?

What can actually be done?

If the courts ordered that, who in the executive department would carry out the order? And let’s not forget the convict in the White House and his pardon power.

The Trump administration sent THREE (3) people to help with the aftermath of the Myanmar devastation after the earthquake.

Wow.

Fabulous work US.

US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said the assessment team of three people would “identify the people’s most pressing needs, including emergency shelter, food, medical needs and access to water”.

Why’d ya leave off the ‘and totally ignore those needs’?
Because, clearly, the earthquake is fraud (FAKE NEWS!), sending any material help would be waste, and asking the US to help in even the tiniest way is clear abuse.

“Qualified Immunity”

I am assuming it’s only a matter of time before someone who is a naturalized citizen but lacks the English skills to make that known ends up deported. Will there be sufficient outrage? I don’t know.

Or even has the English skills but the wrong skin color…

Hell, there are plenty of natural born citizens in New Mexico who don’t speak English.

Which makes them not real 'Murricans.

(I’ve met more than a few “real 'Murricans” who can’t speak English, even though it’s their “native language.” But they don’t fail the paper bag test, so they get a pass.)

Trump just needs to rename the state “New 'Murrica”.

In America, they haven’t used it for years!

And now it’s coming out that Cabinet officials are using gmail for government communications.

Something that’s been bugging me for a while, and this seems to be as good a place as any to bring it up. Every time I see a report of ICE agents “arresting” people for the apparent crime of not being paper-white the agents are described as being “plainclothed” and “masked”. The only indication that they have any authority to do what they’re doing is that they’re wearing jackets with ICE on the back and the fact that they keep screaming “ICE! ICE! Get down on the ground!” or waving threatening weapons around.

Reminds me a lot of reports I’ve heard of things that happened in Germany in the 1930s,

…BABY!"

“No! You get down! I am more ICE than you!” (pulls Covid mask)
“No! Me!”
Clusterfuck indeed, very depressing.
